you can make the pictures smaller by doing this

[ img size=300 ] [ /img]

without spaces, there is one space after img so it's img size

and the number value doesn't have to be 300, it can be 100, 200, 300, 400, 500, 600, etc. The higher the number the bigger the picture.

that's how I do it anyway.

It's not that easy to explain

Now that you have addresses for pictures, that work.

Click on the image link icon in the post window.

delete the "https://" from that box and paste in the address

in the "size" box to the left, type in 400 (You can change this to resize the pic)

Once youve done that press the "INSERT" button

Go to the bottom of the posting box and click on the "PREVIEW" button.

If the image is an ok size at 400, Hit submit.

If it's too big,
reduce the 400 figure to 200 for example.
If it's too small. bump it up to 800 and tweak it till you're happy with it.

Have a play around.
