Could well be the case Irre

The film that came nearest to the book in terms of storyline accuracy/downright quality was imo Carrie....the first book of Kings to be made into a film. Who produced it I wouldn't know offhand, but I bet it wasn't Castle Rock Films...

Also DG, Carrie is one of King's shortest novels, so I think that might have had something to do with it as well.

I've just quickly googled it, someone reckons Carrie is his second shortest novel.

A good job was also done on some of his other shorter stuff...'Shawshank Redemption' being an example.

Misery. The Running Man... that was Richard Bachman though Stand By Me. I've never actually read 'The Body' which Stand By Me was based on, or The Running Man, but they are good films.

Stand By Me comes from a collection of 4 'novelettes' called Different Seasons btw (the short story that 'Shawshank' is based on is also one of them). A must-read

I'll have to read them. I've let my reading slide way too much, I'll have to piss off into the woods with a suitcase full of books for a couple of months I think

castle rock is part of the warner brothers corp. Stephen king owns a bit of it (shareholder)

I did like that Irre but it's not the best film ever........Patrick Swayze doesn't dance in it
