Let's say Spain, France, or Italy without having any visible means of support, basically and in other words, can you become a hobo in another country that accepts tourists and be able to stay like a refugee in a way.

Refugee may not be the correct word but excuse my lack of worldliness

I've given this serious thought this year and last. There is literally nothing here for me and yet, probably fear stops me from doing it.

I imagine a lot of people are probably in the same boat too. I can see the illusion for what it is and yet still I stay and participate.

But yeah, there's actually nothing stopping me from doing this right now.

I'm not convinced the grass is any greener on the far side of the hill. Anyway, I like rain, so I'm staying here.

Although Italy's tempting, because there are Italian men there.

I wouldn't like the climate though.

Two I think this is pretty much been the way of the USA in the last hundred years for the most part to accept people, probably the UK also I don't know.

Many countries won't and would not be as friendly or accepting to give a person a chance, as your country would be to them, apparently we have accepted this double standard, but isn't that what the word freedom means?

Interesting point Rick.

However, much of it has nothing to do with 'freedom' as you or I might understand it. Here for example, a lot of that 'freedom' can have more to do with people taking the piss out of you.

What I mean is, you may very well be welcomed here with open arms, but that won't stop an unscrupulous employer paying you well below minimum wage and working you all the hours god sends.

Some countries may have tried to address that and been branded 'unfriendly' in the process.

On a person to person level though, I think we're a pretty friendly bunch. Given our make-up and history, we'd be pretty hypocritical not to be, imo.

France, Spain and Italy seem more laid back than the UK. They work to live, rather than live to work. You could live a more relaxed life without even adopting the hobo mentality.
