On the theme of where we are, maybe we can all share what we see around or in our immediate enviornment..



This is the upper Swaledale hay meadow area, with a local barn store in the foreground.



The focal point of our town, the 11th century castle keep, Britains largest and best kept Norman tower, 450 feet above sea level..



A winters scene of the oldest side of the town, the building in the lower foreground is where Lewis Carrol was educated.

Widdybank Farm in Upper Teedale, Britains highest habited farm, part of the Raby Estates of Lord Barnard, the joing of the river Tees and Langdon Beck in the centre, the Spring Gentian flowers I posted earlier and just along the side of the footpath from the kissing gate at the bottom right of the picture, my faviorite area after Swaledale.

We came across the funny sign in upper Teesdale, the farmer errected this as a demonstration against the local postman who used to basically rally the mail van down his farm track ruining his road, lol.

Wow Apprentice, I've never been to the Teesdale area, but it's stunning. It's now on my list of places to vist. Thanks.

I know where you live Abs. It's near my cousins. Living in a city is good and has definite plus sides. It's more sociable and there's lots going on. You miss it when you don't have it.

Abs, my grotty city is much like yours. The camera doesn't pick up details like the puddles of phlegm left on pavements by the delightful inhabitants, gozzing!

I can drive for 20 min's in any direction & arrive somewhere more rural & pretty though, so it's not all grim. I'll try to take some pic's this weekend of the nicer spots near here.

Gilly, I'll post my nearest town. It's not very pretty, so I do'nt really have my own pics. It's an old grey, run-down mining town, I am a bit too scared to go to the pub there, because they are too local. (think Royston Vasey and League of Gentlemen. ) Here's stuff off interwewbs for Cinderford & mining. But will post my own tomorrow. You don't see the phlegm near the bus stops or by the Co-op car park, but it's definnitely there. Married counsins too.


This baptist chappel freaks me the fuck out. I can see it right over here in my living room and it gives me the willies and manages to do that from about 3 miles away - baptist mofo. Prpbably haunted. Wooo !

I always think of my home town, Chorley, when I see League of Gentlemen, as one of the writers / actors, Steve Pemberton originates from there, & I'm sure they based Royston Vasey on it, Lesley.

I'm near a ginormous cemetery - used to nip through there sometimes as a short-cut, till someone I know shouted at me for doing it - he said there are corpses found there regularly (I mean freshly murdered, unburied ones) and thugs encouraging their mad pit-bulls to fight each other & eat small passing terriers. There's a prison down the road, and someone escapes from there every other week, and when they do, helicopters come & hover over the cemetery, for ages, 'cause that's where the escapees often head for, to hide for a bit among gravestones & monuments. Seems it's a place where every manner of dangerous lunatic gathers to socialise.
