Do you have any close friends who are of a different race than you , and do you think and feel, the same way about them, as you do a close friend of your own race.

Please don't say human race this is a discussion question.

I have several, but there are a few points of interest about this I didn't fully realize, which I will mention and or ask for explanation

You do start some interesting threads, Rick.

I've had many friends of different races than myself, but I can honestly say it doesn't really occur to me that much.

Religions...now, that's quite a different matter.

Edit: although I wrote 'races' above, reading it back, it doesn't feel right somehow. I don't even register stuff like that tbh. As you've already pointed out, we are all just people.

It doesn't register with me either tbh - except for an ebony-skinned friend I had at college who used to insist on greeting me with, "Hey, you God-damned nigger". It only seemed polite to address him as, "White honkey," in return.

I had a fall out with another friend over him, and we literally had a punch up, because she was a proper racist (copying her dad) and used to be really nasty to him. There was a rubbish TV show on at the time called, "Name That Tune", where people used to compete to identify tunes on hearing the least notes. So contestants would say things to the host like, "I'll name that tune in 3", for eg.

When I was with her, and he came over to speak to me, she'd make cracks like, "I'll maim that coon in 3".

I wanted to wait a bit before changing the direction of thread, and wanted to hear peoples first thoughts on this subject. but for you I will mention one in particular,

I knew this Hispanic girl who was born and raised in the USA her folks weren't and they always had this strange vibe of being not as good and this rubbed off on her.

That is one example AB

@ Abs

I wouldn't doubt it for a moment. :)

I used to work with Clark Kent. And I took a phone call for him once from a chap called Mr Bastard. True.

I can't help you either rick. I only see people and not colours or races.

As abs pointed out though, religion is a different ball game altogether.

You could write a book about your experiences, which would be in my opinion be a best seller.

What do you mean?

You almost have to be in a close situation to understand this, we were on a trip into mexico to see her grand mother in a Mexican hospital, and I noticed a feeling of second class citizen about all of her family that traveled with us in the car also,

This even rubbed off on me

I see. You mean you felt like they may have felt that they were somehow beneath you? Can you specify something they did that made you feel that way?

I'm not getting you, Rick. Give us an example.

Edit: I wasn't meaning to suggest that you actually felt like you were better than them either, I'm just trying to understand what you're saying.
