I can see what you mean Andy. Iceland is very expensive too, which is why we only went for 5 nights!

It costs us over £500 to get the longer crossing when I see my parents and there's only three of us. It's a night crossing on the way to France, so you need a cabin!

This year we're going to visit my folks in the Summer and for Crimbo. To be honest, it does work out being quite a reasonable holiday as the accomodation is free. Plus, me and Mr P get to sneak off on our own for a few days, as my son can stay with my parents.

I used to go to Norway when my husband worked there, and there were some picturesque places there, but what struck me about the place generally was that everything was spotlessly clean, and like someone said about Iceland, the crime-rate's virtually non-existent. More people cycle than drive, so the main crime is bike pinching - though usually, they weren't actually stolen, just 'borrowed', and left elsewhere.

You lucky think Gilly. Norway sounds lush!

It was all one sided with the boat full of norweigans coming here then running into Tesco and grabbing as much booze as they could then getting back on the boat and getting arseholed again...in fact, if you got pissed you could actually manage to stand up on the boat.

Thats the same boat I went on.
Despite the size of the thing (and its big trust me...) it got thrown around like a dinky toy in the north sea.

I know what you mean. We used to fly from Teesside to Stavanger, but we got the ferry across to visit my brother in the Isle of Man, and when it was choppy, you had to navigate piles of vomit, which the crew seemed to pour some kind of powder over & leave in situ.

Seeing as Sarah won't fill you in i'll let you know, I forgot to put the bar up over my bunk, so I went flying out of my bunk at 2am in the morning, hit the mirror glass on the wall, cracked it (and my skull I think) then flew across to the other side of the room and headbutted the bathroom cubicle door open then flew back again and ended up with my head in the cabinet beneath the sink and mirror...

Sarah thought it most amusing ofc...didn't ask me if I was OK, just laughed her head off.

fs I wish i'd taken the bottom bunk now, women always seem to come out the best in such circumstances lol.

Being a follower of Rev Baracus and his teachings my holiday options are rather limited.

Devon or Cornwall for me. Weather isn't an issue, rain or shine they are beautiful places to be in.

Ah the joys of the North Sea. We were on a Chevron charter once, which basically meant running from Europort to blighty several times a week, in the middle of winter. That was fun

Cornwall used to have this victorian penny arcade somewhere, I remember visiting it as a kid.
Is it still there?
