OK, sat down to watch it last night....mainly 'cos teenage son wanted to watch.
The only bit that made me chuckle was Russell Howards Good News bit. By that late at night I had started channel hopping. Why?
Neither I nor my son could stand all the innuendos and blatant in your face stuff about paedophiles, gays and STD's. We (me and lad) are quite open minded and have no probs with gays......but THE WHOLE programme FFS! Not only that, Rowan Atkinsons stint as the Archbishop had both of us gobsmaked as it was well before the watershed. Son even said with an amazed look on his face, "He can't say that....can he? There are kids`watching!" It was a reference to "shagging thy neighbour!
Give you another example....Zoe Ball taking over from John Bishop and Davina McCall...."Oooh, I've been touched by a bishop......oh,...The Bishop, not a Bishop you understand!" WTF!

You would need to have watched the whole thing...although I gave up around 11pm....because the more you watched, the more sublimimals there were....it was SICK!

On reflection, maybe this should be in rant.

Yes, my daughter put it on for a bit. I was playing a game with my son, & dodging on & off here, so not concentrating on the telly, but I did catch bits of it, and agree with your comments. I wouldn't choose to watch it anyway, because , as expected, there's so much attempted emotional blackmail goes on, and choreographed sniffling & shedding of tears that it turns my stomach. I've every sympathy for people in need, and donate regularly to charities, but I can't be doing with this kind of manipulation.

It's not just what I said and what you added Gilly....it was the blatant contributions £1.000,000+ from each of the rather 'quesrtionable' corporations which made up the bulk of the final £75,000,000! I had a feeling at one stage that the presenters were embarassed almost at trying to ask us for money knowing how tight their own purses are let alone us humble viewers!

The money probably gets used as a bargaining tool by the BBC on behalf of other companies wanting favours from the countries involved?

I am sure once their country gets used to the money coming in every year and then the threat of no money makes them more flexible?

As for the funny part,just getting comedians in to present programmes doesn't make them funny,they need material.
