It's the Greek version of Shrove Tuesday except instead of going to school/work it's a bank holiday, kite flying is traditional, and instead of pancakes we had grilled octopus, octopus sauce with pasta, squid, chips, salad, taramasalata, halva, a 'special' bread and copious amounts of wine.

I miss pancakes. :hahano:

Oddly enough, pancakes are my latest 'thang'
Piece of piss recipe ...

Ingredients
4 oz plain flour
2 oz butter (melted)
pinch of salt
2 eggs
3fl oz water
7 fl oz milk

Preparation
Sift the flour and salt
Add the eggs and melted butter. whisk
Gradually add in the milk water mix
Whisk until smooth

Cooking
Lightly butter a frying pan/skillet
Pre-heat pan, then pour on pancake mix
Turn when bubbling.

Add sweet or savoury filling or just honey.

No, the kite flying precedes any adult indulgences. The price must be paid up front. Standing on the mountain, all expectation on me, piercing wind, bit of drizzle thrown in....sat in traffic there n back, then a feed! Nap time now :D

loukimades are a kind of small doughnut, served hot(ish) with honey and cinnamon drizzled on.

Octopus is more 'fleshy', today's was perhaps the softest, meltiest octopus I ever ate.

Better finish that wine off now.
