If anything it tends to be the left of politics who tend to be more patriotic in a caring sense ie looking to protect the industries in the UK.

Yes indeed. It is the same way with Republicans in the States. They have this patriotic facade but they hide behind. When Obama does not wear a flag pin Fox news is outraged as if it is proof of every bad thing they ever said about him. They are for the flag and everything it represents to them but that might not mean the same thing as it means to others.

The problem is that he when a group such as the Tory's and others like them promote a patriotic image but in reality behave in an unpatriotic way on a regular basis this can be described as habitual,this lying can then be understood to be pathological (a manifestation that is habitual).

I'm of the opinion that when someone is reduced to selling you patriotism they really don't want you to look at what they're really up to.
