i think it is folly to judge people on our own standards of things - people find enjoyment and fun in so many different ways. I, for example do not derive enjoyment from watching football - millions do. I consider unravelling huge knots of wool deeply satisfying. i have friends who enjoy writing computer code or making databases - others who feel most content when talking about wine others still who like to dress up as wizards and role play in the local woods.

We are all guilty of bitterness depending on what we feel is lacking in our own lives or about things we cannot change - or about our own lack of control over our own lives.

If we do not share the same passions the person with whom we are attempting to interact may seem incredibly dull, but that does not mean they are dull just that we are not interested in the same things. I am not interested in getting pissed every night so seem quite dull to those who are - but to those who share the same passions as me I can be quite interesting.

Lastly there is a difference between intellect, social and emotional intelligence. Some people are incredibly academic but struggle with social situations and emotional interactions - others excel socially and have never read a book by choice in their lives. That does not make one sort of intelligence better then the other it just means we all have strengths and weakness.

I find those people who are realistic about themselves and their strengths and weaknesses and who do not judge others for theirs tend to be the most content - as they do not look on with envy at what others achieve instead they are proud of what they have achieved.

Intelligent or intellectual?

An intelligent person can be under stimulated and therefore appear bored, unless it's a child then they are 'diagnosed'.

I know very clever people who have a dry sense of humour, so while not giddy types, they're extremely funny. And I know thick people who are glum.

I don't think you can categorise people so easily, and match jolliness to their level of intelligence. It takes all sorts to make the world go round.

It's hard to put into words what I'm trying to say BUT I guess I'm thinking of certain types of people I've known in the past
who can't get beyond their training.....

Parties and getting drunk strike me as dull, I enjoy stuff that I find life enriching and self affirming that most others especially those around me and closest to me consider utterly dull.

Likewise, I'm not really intelligent, if I was I'd do stuff to be more succesful and have an easier life, intelligence to me indicates a certain amount of conformity, it's intelligence to never go against the herd, to bite your lip, abide the law avoid difficulties etc.

So I would say it's impossible for somebody who is mad to have a dull life, and also impossible for somebody constructing their own life and values to have a dull life, but for everyone else, from my perspective the life of most people intelligent or not appears dull, pre determined, predictable etc
