Thought it was a bit of a weak episode to be fair, no doubt it will pick up as the season progresses though..

A bit weak, yeah, but I like the continued piss taking of Alec Baldwin.

:D

No doubt they'll find a spot or two for Barbra Streisand as well.
But now I have come to believe that the whole world is an enigma,

I rarely get phone credit... I probably get a tenner every 3 months or so. I'm also not that arsed about using the internet on the move as I hate typing on the little screens & it's a bit fiddly, but I will log on through a wifi hotspot if I've nowt better to do.
A lad at uni was going on the other day about not being able to watch Back to the Future on his phone coz it's not widescreen. I couldn't believe people could be arsed to watch films on their phones, nevermind pretty old ones that are on telly every few weeks.

Fair do's.. I basically use mine for tethering with the computer, so it saves me a bit of cash on that score. The minutes and texts obviously come in handy too. And fuck watching a whole film on a phone? My eyes would be fucked. I do use mine for the odd bit of youtube though, but only for music or talks.

Still, it's pretty amazing the things that they can do. The idea that we can just sit there with a device and stream a film out of thin air still blows my mind. The future's here..

Aye, the tethering of the computer to the phone is something I've only recently discovered. It came in handy when I was in caravan in Cornwall earlier this year... now the mrs has it on in the car while I'm driving! Makes her feel a bit queezy after a bit though!

Yes... simply set your phone as a wifi hotspot then select the phone from your list of wifi connections on the computer.

It means you can have the internet on the move on your computer (if it's portable).
Or if you don't want to pay for broadband, you can just use your phone's connection.... like MP does.

You can also do it via the usb and use it as a usb modem with a data cable

Yes I suppose technically that's what 'tethering' is rather than doing it via wifi hotspot.
The advantage of the wifi hotspot is that more than 1 computer (or phone) can connect to it.

Indeed

My last desktop didn't have wireless though, but I could still tether it with the data cable and put the hotspot on for my mate with his laptop. It's just amazing how quickly the phones have come along.. I was quite happy playing snakes just a few years back.

And some of the phones nowadays are getting to the point where they can almost match a standard wireless modem, especially the likes of the Galaxy S4, but fucked if I'm forking out £500 for one of those.

Doesn't work on my Mac, sadly. It's an older PowerPC with the AMD chipset. I might be able to do it if I used another OS but it's too much fucking about. Can't believe they try & make you fork out for an Airport card when you've spent a fortune on the fucking computer.
It is unbelievable how much phones have come on.... won't be long before they are everything you need to carry about.... keys to your gaff, money etc. I'm happy with my Galaxy Young... cheap & cheerful but i'm not into spending shit loads of cash on fucking telephones.

I generally steer clear of macs, so I can't help ya there. But I have found one tethering app that has let me hook my phone to everything I've plugged it onto so far, without the need for desktop software, and it's this one. I'm probably teaching you to suck eggs here, but the phone needs to be rooted and you'd need to install it via your phone's sd card.

And the Galaxy Young's are pretty decent phones actually, I nearly grabbed one off gumtree the other day for £25 but it turned out to be a Galaxy Y. I've just got a Galaxy Ace which is less powerful, but it's rooted and updated to Jelly Bean via an unofficial ROM, and it works a treat..

Gotta love xda

My daughter has her Galaxy 4 linked to our Netflix (as well as her laptop) so she watches that for free. She uses the Kindle app on it too. Also, she's used the sat nav on it a few times - there's a pedestrian one as well as one for driving purposes. And as she's a gad about, she's used it to locate particular buildings where she's arranged to meet people in other cities.

I think it's nifty. She's tried to persuade me to get one, but is very scathing at my stupidity for not automatically knowing how to use the features, and I'm not sure if I can be bothered. I only started using t'internet for the 1st time about 4ish years ago. Tend to dodge technology.
