I don't understand.

What I mean to say is, I grasp the concept, but I don't get why you wouldn't just stay single. I appreciate it may well be a case of having your cake and eating it, or there may be some other complicating factor involved, but if you met someone who described themselves as for example 'happily partnered but looking for fun'...what would you make of that?

I'm not judging by the way, I'm just trying to get my head around it. Being far from conventional myself, I don't actually understand why this is such a difficult concept for me to grasp.
