I haven't listened to the interview yet, but I will. But it's all very well and good for these people who mix in circles of interesting, informed and like-minded people, who have great momentum in their own personal lives and careers to go round saying "humanity's coming out of the cave". Hang around with me for a bit, I'll introduce you to a few people, and then you can tell me whether humanity's coming out of the cave, or not.

I've been reading about this stuff and starting to get a handle on what's going on in the world for nearly 15 years now. In terms of the general public's understanding of what's going on in that time, very little has changed. There is slightly more awareness of corruption than there was, but there isn't really any understanding of how serious the current socio-economic situation is. I know that I spoke to people when the Cyprus stuff was happening, so did Gilly, people didn't even know that it was happening. Never mind understand the factors behind it and realise that things needed to change, they didn't even know it was happening. Even in a bank that I went into!

You can look at the news today - NPower are hiking energy prices by 10%. Who's going to stop them? The BBC are basically implying here that it's not unreasonable:

Banks and countries' entire economies have crashed, trillions in bailouts, incredible off the chart fraud, massive housing price bubble / crash and another one well on the way, abysmal foreign policy followed over the last decade...all of this was entirely predictable, and was predicted, and has anything stopped it from happening? Do most people even care? They probably care about electricity bills going up, but not enough to actually understand why it's occurring.

I just don't see any cause for optimism whatsoever.

There's not an ounce of social care in the guy, same as any of the other so called 'libertarians' in the US. Its just fuck you jack I'm alright.

Its interesting to see that Russel Brand has at least a beginning of understanding, although I winced when he talked about govt regulation so he's not there yet. He has hinted at it with words like 'complete economic change' and 'distributism' but as I've said for a long time, there's people on this forum who are leagues ahead of the likes of Icke/AJ/Brand, YOU are the cutting edge basically.
