I get what you're all saying about waking up and do see how it ties in with the whole sheeple thing.
However, as I said in the OP of the BBC thread, I had my own personal waking up experience. All the isolated bits that I'd previously had in my mind suddenly connected and became cohesive. Those doubts and suspicions I'd had were replaced by knowledge that they were right.
The only way I can describe the experience is.......waking up. :coffee:

However all this 'sleeping' while RB has been ''inside'' the media industry, he claims to have been not awake, he only recently says that he's 'woken up' and that's his excuse for his prior behaviours that he now disagrees with.
Have you not done things in your life that you would now choose not to do? Behaved in ways you now find abhorrent?
I know I have. All part of growing up...Not so much waking up.

Yes indeed and as such I conclude thus far that RB is being pretentions with his statement of 'wakening'.
It's a term used imo as if to say ''I am superior'' although not outright only as if to say, 'find your path' darling, ''I won't say I'm superior I'll just let you all think it''.

I see all this path finding/following is anal as can be, these idiots are so busy seeking their paths that they are completely lost.
Now if someone is going to dedicate their life thus such as like a Buddhist monk, I'd say good luck.
If it's some jumped up former DJ who makes fast bucks shooting his mouth off, I say do me a favour...
Week one Big brother presenter
Week two Radio2 DJ
Week three comedian
Week four Movie actor
Week five political activist
Week six drug addict councillor
Week seven freshly woken consciousness spiritual speaker and Marxist revolutionist.
All the above include hyper activity, this is what I think yeah yeah yeah... so fuck off...

Now let's look at a Buddhist monk.
Week one humble consciousness spiritual thinker
all other weeks likewise.

What RB is is anti capitalist, it's just that he knows if he mentions matters of 'consciousness' he can appeal to more than just the lefties, and furthermore what he says about the environment is not exactly true, some environmentalist statements have been shown to be wrong, for instance Al Gore had to stfu after it was shown that co2 is a symptom of global warming rather than the cause of global warming.

RB has not been clear about this topic, and says that people should stop saying that it's rubbish, but in the case of Al Gores presentations it was rubbish.
I find it difficult to take anyone seriously when they discuss the global environment but don't mention that in the case of global warming there is a lot of science and scientists that say it's rubbish and in fact it was warmer in the beginning of the last century before the scale to the use of industrial chemicals, motors, planes etc... we have now.
It's unclear to me when RB discusses the globe what exactly he is referring to if not 'global warming'.

He seems like a very intelligent guy.

And that is more than can be said of many people in the limelight.

And simply because he is in the limelight/media does not automatically make everything he says bollocks or Illuminati driven

He is a narcissistic attention seeker , so has found a role that suits him very well yet one he also seems uncomfortable in as demonstrated by some of his 'speeches'

If everyone in 'public entertainment' was controlled and play to the same tune, none of us would even be in this forum as forums discussing aleternatives views would not exist.

All it takes it's for one person in the 'spotlight' to plant a seed of doubt about govt/life/reality and someone to hear that and start their own investigation which they might never have otherwise done

I've not heard him talking about global warming. Do you have a link? Might give someone chance to clear up your apparent confusion, in that you seem to be saying he's not talked about global warming, but he must be referring to global warming if he mentions the globe. Sounds like a bit of straw grasping to try and make something very vague and self-contradictory on your part sound like a failing of someone else, so a link to what the frick you're blathering about would be helpful.

Who exactly will be enlightened about RB's comments about the illusion of democracy?
That's what I'm on about, who is RB appealing to about such matters that would not already be aware of such matters.
And it seems tome to be a ickle bit hypocritical of RB slagging off the elite whilst being in a relationship with one of their daughter in laws.

I mean ok that could be just bad timing for RB but if you take into account his Olympic closing ceremony performance and his dislike of 'public spectacles' and now he's girlfriend is connected to the elite, it just seems that RB is constantly doing what he says he's against.

It be like saying I hate racists organizations and then go into a relationship with Nick Griffin's daughter-in-law.
And then say I disagree with public spectacles but turn up to participate in the Edinburgh tattoo because it's aconflict I like it when the cannons go bang bang !!

he discussed the global environment in the link that oioioi posted I think at the 'huffington post' interview, it's unclear if he meant global warming or not. ( or some other global matter not specified) he started then talking about how the astronauts would see the world from above.... he was unclear exactly what global environmental issue he meant except poverty, I'm unsure if poverty was all he meant when he discussed the planet?
No thanks. I don't like blubber

People don't just come in 2 categories or mind-sets you know. There are lots of different flavours. You've tried to slot everybody into either, know it already, and don't know coz they don't care so will ignore him anyway drawers. That's not realistic. You're making lots of assumptions in lots of posts, which is why your arguments aren't convincing.

Again, it's not that I see Brand as a guru at all. I've said I like what he said in the OP clip. But I'm curious why you're so determined to paint him to be a villain when he's not actually done anything I'm aware of to deserve that. Certainly nothing you've said would make me think so.

"The planet is being destroyed. We are creating an underclass and exploiting poor people all over the world. And the legitimate problems of the people are not being addressed by our political powers."
And his solution?
"We shouldn't destroy the planet. We shouldn't create massive economic disparity. We shouldn't ignore the needs of the people."
Russell Brand. ( with a very unspecific comment about the destruction of the planet)
