Regardless of the hypothetical, once you employ their tactics, you legitimise their methods and become the thing you despise.

Violence is a means of establishing authority, I don't want authority therefore I don't want to resort to violent means. However, to quote Uncle Joe "when the law breaks in how you gonna come? With your hands on your head or the trigger of your gun?", if push came to shove I'm not gonna let the fascists (of whatever description) kick the fuck out of me and my family just to be able to maintain the moral high ground!

The best way I can console myself that this sits with anarchist ideology is I let the other person define their own rules and engage them on their terms, not by enforcing mine.

I agree with your arguments in principle, Feather. Overall though, I like to see bullies get a taste of their own medicine, and without that happening, they'd just hold all the cards - have us all cowering at their brutal intimidation.

I was at a march against the bnp which was bottlenecked by the waiting lines of riot plod. One was at the front line with his visor up. I raiswd a stick to his face and shouted, youd better put yer visor down eh buddy. Which he promptly did.
Half an hour later the first mounted charge into the crowd came. In the stampede my gf went down and got isolated. She was trampled under the feet of a many hands horse and repeatedly thwacked with a riot stick...

For a long time i wished i'd stuck my stick straight through that plods nose.
Then i realised i was stuck in a self defeating loop.

Why go through middle men when you can go straight to the top.
