I set out from me mother's in North Dorset at 1pm today to take me boys to their mum's in West Somerset and get back to Kernow.



Would normally take me about 3 hours.

Somerset, is fucked. I got about 3 miles into it before i came across the first blocked road, tree right across and on someone's roof. About turn and try another road. Stone wall down....Every road i took was at least partially flooded in places. Trees everywhere, fences, more walls, bits of barn, more floods...fucked.
I ended up detouring through Yeovil, which due to xmas shoppers, was fucked. Nearly an hour to get across.
It weren't any better past Taunton. More damage everywhere, more flooded roads...
I got the kids back but twere touch and go...
Devon and Kernow seem a bit less fucked but i can't say for sure cos i stuck to the M5 and A30. The local radio was giving a string of problems though and i'll wager there's damage in D&K too.
3000 homes in Kernow cut off from leccy i hear so far.

That's not good. You'll have to stay off the roads as much as possible, especially if the wind's bringing trees or even branches down.

The second wave is just hitting us now. Ms knob says the van was breathing last night haha.

It's blustery here, but not destructively so.

I don't know why everyone is so surprised, this is normal winter weather for this part of the country, we don't normally get much snow but what we DO get is lashings of high winds and driving rains, that's why you see all those men in yellow jackets with "highways" on the back digging out the ditches and gullies and clearing the drains of all those autumn leaves!!! forecast says xmas and boxing days will be calm but another storm is due on Friday and the following days.
