To continue the apparent theme of things falling down around my arse, my rear tyre decided to split yesterday.

I used it today because I had no bus fare and though a little shaky, it did the trick. I'll have to brave it again tomorrow because I won't have any cash to replace it until after work.

You lot reckon it'll be OK?

I have the bicycle equivilent of a sherman anyway, so it's not like I'm racing around at any great speed.

Also, halfords appear to have some cheap tyres but my local store never has the same stuff in stock and certainly never has anything near what I'd be prepared to pay for it.

Any ideas?

Ugh Abs... I understand you've had sleet down your neck of the woods today too!
If the tyre had a puncture I'm sure you would have thought of an inner tube. But seeing as its split....new tyre.....

Yep, it did get a puncture actually, but am assuming that is what the caused the split.

It's right on the seam as well...muthafucka.

OK. I've made a decision and I know you all want to share in this important, life-changing stuff with me.

I'll chance it tomorrow, as I'd have to walk in anyway. If it goes, it goes.

If will cost me £15.00 a week to bus into work, so as long the tyre is cheaper than that, it's all good.

There. I feel better for sharing.

Might it damage the wheel though? Is it feasible to walk, Abs?

If you've got roller-blades, you could hang onto the back of the bus. :P

If the rims fucked then another another tyre ain't gonna work is it.....
Also you'll be lucky to get a tyre for less than 15 squids....That was about the starting price last time I had to get one for my boy......so bus it or shanks it I reckon.... :D

When I say "fucked" I mean there is a broken spoke which I have not replaced yet.

My thinking is, if I ride careful-like, it may get me there and back again to the bike shop. If it doesn't, I'd have been walking anyway, so I'll just be walking, but with my bike.

See? :D
