Maybe as smiling distorts your face it throws out the facial recognition software? I rarely smile my problem is trying not to look furious having my photo taken lol! I'm really curious how muslim women get passports anyone know?

I went to Australia for Christmas, they have a special queue now for those with e passports from certain countries so I got to try out my new passport (British). You don't present your passport to a Customs officer you stand on a line on the floor and look head on into a machine that works on facial recognition (eyes I think??) and you put your passport into a machine scanner thaing and it spits out a ticket then you move forward and hand the ticket to an officer and bob's your uncle. Speediest time I have ever had getting into Sydney.

So yes it seems that's why you have to have a mug shot on your passport.

Yep just went thru that myself landing in Melbourne, Id say the recognition is the whole face perhaps, not sure though, just a guess. Then i got GE ion scanned for drugs along with my stuff. Good thing none got on my clothes while abroad.

I mean they have so much of our info anyway because of requirements... may as well do whats easier to get thru airports. Im probably going to do the TSA Pre✓™ thing also given that getting thru US customs is a drawn out PITA especially when the airport is busy. And they take photos and prints of you anyway everytime you go in, so may as well give it all to them once and get thru faster. Who wants to take their shoes and stuff off everytime

Oh and I didn't have to show any kind ot airline ticket though I had printed it off - apparently it was attached to my passport number or was that to my Australian visa?

Did you have to buy a return ticket? or rather was it a return ticket that you purchased initially? I assume it was.

Some countries wont let you in if you dont have a return ticket to indicate that you will leave again.

Oh God a return ticket to Australia sorry lol.
