I don't think that I'll be contributing anything to the news per say, except for monitoring/reviewing stories and collecting data from forum members, and creating a checklist. For that lot.
Unless anyone simply wants to refresh the news page once in a while about anything they want, in such case I'll do nothing.
Even if you just find stories worthy of news or whatever

I don't want to research stories, however I don't mind collecting data from forum users, and catalogue what stories other members are interested in having as news, and then comparing this catalogue to what is actually reported, thus the news will be a reflection of the opinions of the forum members.
Otherwise it's not really 'our news'.
It's merely taking notes of members desires and presenting news to some degree of consensus, perhaps we could have a request thread or something where people can request reports about certain issues, I can then list these requests in my 'special data base'
Once the stories have been reported on they can be marked as either done, or partially covered.
I do think that the stories need to represent a given point of view, perhaps we can't please everyone but can have a system when so many requests for a particular report on the news = A report, the others will be shelved until enough requests have been made.
As I say I don't mind counting and monitoring all this, if the news is going to be presented from democratically compiled data.
