Well Martin luther king said "we hold these truths to be self-evident"

I however would say truth is what you know to be right from the heart, the true core of inherent goodness, listen to it & use that as your compass and you will know and be truth...

Bit mushy for you Oi i know, but that is my truth :D

I'm tempted to (wholeheartedly) agree GP...or I would have in the past - but I think society (worldwide) no longer has access to that "true core". It has been put beyond reach.

Pretty much what I try to live by. My non-mushy exterior is merely a defence ;)

Nobody has access to that inner world but you, society cannot take that from anyone, it is the person themselves who block access to it, the only thing that prevents access for those types, is due to them running scripts in their mind telling themselves that they cannot or make up reasons for why, or some do even worse as they have a self-denial so strong or convince themselves of their own omnipotence, they shut off that source due to their actual state which they constantly deny which is one of or a combination of deep shame/envy/self-pity/self-loathing ....imho

I'd die for some of my morals, I'd kill for none of them.

I don't know if that makes me hard or not.

It makes me.

Hard ? not sure if such a statement expresses that, but it does show you are principled and that helps steer your course through life :)

I've always had the feeling I just edged it out of me mam's womb with a todger. 51%/49% M/F in essence.

Son of a coal miner from Salford, there were certain 'macho' expectations I never even entertained.

'Hard' probably being one of them.

But despite TPV's gay agenda my open-mindedness never lead me to pursue sex in more 'attainable' areas....despite the numerous situations having a gay best mate puts you in.

It could have been me and sean if Tavistock had only gotten their gay programming right by now.

It's a really good question Oi. I went to type the answer I thought I knew, but couldnt nail it down.

I guess truth is that which exists unchangeable regardless of anyone's belief or view. Not sure how to word that to a five year old. I think what you told her was bang on as good as it gets for now.

Im sure your're in-house dr is as near as ever you need to be to tavistock....you came together in love and destiny did not plan for you to be a part of all the other shenanigans connected to those types,

And the macho part is of course programming which all go through as we are given so many expectations in our younger lives to "fit the mold" and it is nearly always coupled with guilt, but you have remained true to your nature which imo, shows you have a strong sense of the feminine in you, and i dont mean in a "faux fairy" way, that is not authentic to me, i mean able to feel....

Able to be tender, compassionate and be in touch with a part of ALL of us, but many deny that and cannot understand that you cannot achieve balance without uniting [marrying even] both the male and female principles within us.....

hence why you see so many pumped up muscle-men as they are hiding the insecurity of what they feel inside, so instead seek to protect their idea of macho.....people like your dad were indoctrinated into their mind-set by the surroundings and the era they lived through too, just like some of my relatives did, and you would have more chance of finding rocking horse s*** than getting them to understand they needed to embrace both principles....as i see it anyway :)

Thank you but..

In my old fella's defence he taught me how to be a 'tough man' when you're really a softy. ;)

Being strong is what is required, it does not require much more than that.....and standing up for what is right is being true to yourself, and the point of 'marrying' the male and female principles is for balance, having a strong male aspect has given you much of that and i did not mean any slight on your old man, as many in my family from that era were the same, but if it remains at just that, then there will be a imbalance, as the male energy needs to be tempered with the nurturing more tender female aspects

Truth is knowing the nature of something or knowing what should be, by the facts that reality does not meet the expected outcome or fails some test of feeling or reason. Clearly this require some amount of perception and earthly experience. But kids simple nature and honest way of talking is often full of truth. But that's kids. They are easy to fool, eventually they catch on not everything everyone says is right or true. It's a heavy trip for a soul to take.

My eldest(5 3/4) asked me this over dinner today, what would be your answer?

I would start small.

1+1=2 is true, so by definition is truth.

We use truth tables in logic to define if something is logical or not.

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Truth_table

As we grow older we unconsciously use these truth tables when making decsions .

And our truth table is our experience up until that point, we can only decide if something is true to us from either consciously or subconsciously accessing our own truth table, so we have to try and give our children as good a truth table as we can.

So, I would try and show my child truth in in its simplest form and give them best grounding I possibly could.

its funny how hard it is to pin down something so apparently simple as "truth". Which is one of the reasons I hate those "I'm awake and know the truth, whereas everyone else is a "sheeple" type people. Lots of them around that know the "truth", they must be better than me as some of them need only read one book to know the truth, normally pivotal works such as "The Biggest Secret".

There are 10 types of people in the world.

Those that understand binary and those that don't :)

1+1 = 1

Let's see, take a thought, add another thought to it, your thought has not doubled, it's simply expanded by any size.
In addition to that, (no pun intended) if you have two houses, semi detached, if you knock out the dividing wall, you have one house.

So in that case 1 +1 = 1.
2 becomes 1, adding things together actually reduces the number.
This is where my bottom line would be if it existed.

But the sum 1+1=2 doesn't involve any houses or thoughts.

It is a simple numeric sum involving integers.

And 1+1=2 cannot mean anything other than what it means.
