I usually get my shopping delivered from Asda or Tesco. However I seem to be spending more for the same lately. So I've just done some online research and it seems that many of the items that I purchase would be cheaper bought from Aldi. Anyone got experience of buying food at Aldi. How do their products compare to other supermarkets. I'm tempted to shop there one week and see what its like. However if a wasted shop can be avoided due to poor quality etc then please assist me.

I went in to the Newquay Aldi once. Think i was after summat but i can't remember what. Remember thinking, this doen't seem THAT cheap. I didn't look at food etc but the stuff like workwear, pans and kettles looked like market crap sold at high street prices. But as i say, only been in the once so :dunno: :D as you were then ;)

I like the Aldi in Newquay. I've never been in, I just use the car park for 1 + 1/2 hours when I need to.
Probably one of the best views from a supermarket car park in the world too!

I think Aldi is a bit cheaper... but their customer services isn't as good as Tesco.... which if you know what you're doing, can reap some rewards. Especially if you purposefully buy some products that are going mouldy for example. ;)

It's "swings and roundabouts" I think. Some items are cheaper in one supermarket, but other things more expensive. Iceland often seem much cheaper if you go in and buy their frozen whitefish... but their £1 for everything is more expensive when you come to buy a lettuce (45p in Asda) and other vegetables. We ought to do what our mothers and grandparents did - shop around. I never just shop in the one store anymore; and where I can, I support those 99p stores, which kept my head above water on cheap-but-good household stuff like bleach, shampoo, soaps etc., when I had been left with a baby and not a penny child support!

Aldi is "okay". It reputedly has the best meat, although I haven't really noticed it is any better than Morrison's (and both are btter than Asda's and Tesco's meat!); and it has nice fruit, but they are more expensive than the other supermarkets - sometimes not in a direct price comparison, but often because you get less fruit (5 apples or oranges instead of 6 or 8).

Shopping around is the answer. And I hate shopping! :D
