The sad truth is as FF highlighted - we just havent evolved enough to move past the mentality that is currently the norm.

I genuinely do not believe that peace and balance can ever be won through force - I am of the belief that wars create imbalance - there will always be winners and losers - for some it may be enough to be on the 'winning' side with barely a thought for those left as the losers. Which is what to my mind we have now.

I am not sure humanity will ever reach a place where personal responsibility and respect for each other means that we can live in harmony - with each other peaceably and respectfully with each person governing themselves and their actions all without abuses and corruption - It is my utopia though.

It is why I cannot personally view this as a 'war' I am not at 'war' with anyone - rather I dislike the direction we as a whole are traveling in.

Not sure if I have explained particularly well where I am coming from - but I hopes you get the drift even if we disagree :)
Sometimes, if you stand on the bottom rail of a bridge and lean over to watch the river slipping slowly away beneath you, you will suddenly know everything there is to be known.

I tend to agree with OP... Unofrtunately this is how this shit world runs from time to time...

From some personal experience, i can say that when there's situation on and i'm being attacked, i hit back, referably hard enough so the attacked wont try second time.. Or then run. And usually after is good time for talk if there's a need for it.

But, the best kung fu is to not get into situation where kung fu is needed.

Now I quite like this post, but mankind is a war fucking machine. Take your western way of life out of the equation.

Now go to lets say parts of the Sudan.

There daily raids are being carried out by a quite a few different tribes stealing each others cattle and women and kids and killing the men.

Thats mankind at a base level for suvival.

Its in most people, but as they , and by they I mean 99% of the wests population have never had to experience it, they deney it exists :killinme:

Your all killing machines but you dont know it , hopefully you will never have to do it either.

I agree with you, Thoreau. Peace through force isn't really peace. It's just conditioned response to the prospect of pain. Like you, I'd prefer to live in a world where people were more responsible for themselves. We wouldn't have to worry about one another. It's strange that we have to worry more about our own species than we do anything else. I get where you're coming from.

Unfortunately there are quite a bit of us who don't really give that much thought. They take what they want, when they want, and don't really care who's in the way. Psychopathy seems to be more prevalent than it appears. For the rest of us, we'll need to stay vigilant so long as there are people with that mentality. Maybe in a not too distant future, that will be a thing of the past? I certainly hope so. :)
Form is merely a momentary manifestation of being, not a fixed reality.

History doesn't repeat itself, uninformed people repeat history.

To all progressive endeavors great or small, come unforeseen benefits on a scale larger than most give pause or contemplation of.

The simplest and most effective use of energy answer for anyone unfortunate to be sycnchronizing with an even such as that of the OP, is, Jedi mind trick.

It has been conclusively shown in a series of documentaries I once saw, to be almost 100% effective in disarming many of the universe's bottle wielders.

I do know where you are coming from, I'm not saying we should phone up Obama and order up a load of cruise missiles and land mines. But at the same time, how can we fight fire with fairy dust and love bombs?

I guess it depends on what it is you want to achieve.

Atm what I want to achieve is to get people thinking and talking about living and seeing life in a different way - hopefully inspiring people to break the cycles and the conditioning and living up to my own values and beliefs so as not to be that which I dislike.

My methods may never work - people may not be inspired or may view me as not leading a more fulfilling life - they may work with time in that a tipping point could be reached - or someone else may take matters out of all our hands and change the path we are on for better or worse.

I sound a little apathetic reading the above back but that cannot be further then the truth - Its just that in trying to live up to my own standards it is difficult to acquiesce to anything which employs similar methods or outcomes to that which I don't like currently..

Feck it someone hand me a sunflower and I shall just start singing kumbaya now :P
