I don't believe in God insofar as a nice invisible man in the sky who watches our every move and sends us to hell if we do something he doesn't like :D

I think the Universe/Universes, all of creation is God sort of thing, well I don't call it God, it is what it is, and what it is is quite amazing and beautiful.

So no, I don't believe in a judgemental contradictory invisible sky fascist :D What does that make me? :chuckle:

but there is something?

something bigger than us

I sometimes think 'God' is the collective of people who are dead

I do think when I die , that will not be the end of me, so I suppose I must believe in life beyond death or God or |GOds

My money is on gods though and a singular god

I suppose I'm agnostic too pheony...although the whole bearded man in a robe, everlasting afterlife in heaven thing doesn't make any sense to me :chuckle: I don't believe in life after death, more like life after life. Reincarnation, infinite lives in infinite forms makes far far more sense to me :)

I am of the belief that the people that appear in religious texts are in all likelihood real and the events depicted are probably exaggerated and fictionalised accounts of real events - I don't however think that there is a god or gods or that the prophets or jesus were anything other then ordinary people who did some extra ordinary things.

Hmmm

Existence. I don't think there is such a thing as no thing, nothing. Because even nothing is somethng...isn't it?

I can't imagine not existing. I can't comprehend nothingness.

I think death is not the end, more like the end of that life, that particular chapter, cycle, whatever.

Bit of an epic fail given that atheism does not fit the definition for a religion.

You may aswell say black is white.
Where are the rules for atheism? Wheres the book for it? Wheres the church? Wheres the tax free status?

The only definition for atheism I know is no belief in a God or Gods and all the dogma that comes with it.

It doesn't stipulate that you then have to agree on specifics or worship some 'atheist' priests or whatever the feck!?

Buddhism probably shares a lot of views in common with a fair few atheists I bet.

What you really meant to say is that 'some' atheists might have hardcore anti-beliefs in respect to ALL religion and/or values?

Personally I'm sick of abrahamic bullshit, but I admire much of buddhism.
Some people would say that makes me agnostic but I'm just as happy to call myself atheist.

I also believe very strongly in the scientific method, which you also allude to but if you're honest the ones you are talking about do NOT adhere to the scientific method.

I'm not a atheist, but also don't belong to a organized religion of a particular faith,my belief leans toward a central force we return to,and each one of us is experiencing a different physical awareness, that this central force also feels.

That is my way of accepting all the living being's on this earth's turmoil and pain.

This force has helpers or spirits in my belief that communicate with us through our dreams, and that we eventually will realize this more clearly as beings on this planet, and understand there is a force, that let's us experience good and bad,but having the free will of choice, and to each their own as to what path or level they reach, while in this more physical awareness which were in.

Because many are forced to be in the physical mind more than others for mere survival and the spirit mind has been repressed in them because of this fact of basic physical needs.

I dumped Catholicism at age 13 when I started to really understand the "rubbish" it was. Luckily, I hadn't been brought up in a heavily Catholic family, so wasn't indoctrinated too badly. Even so, it took about 13 years more to purge it from my system (and, still today, there are one or two underlying superstitions remaining).

During the Purging Years, I would have called myself an atheist - but I think that was really anger at the ideas I'd been taught throughout my childhood. So, to me, today, I see atheism as almost a religion in itself - I'd never talked or thought as much about God or Church or Church Rules as I did in those times. :conf:

Nowadays, I believe in "something", but I can't say exactly what or how it works. I LOVE quantum stuff and the more I've read of that, the more I can see a real purpose and "programming" in everything; but not "set programming". It can be altered, reproduced, created... Hmmm, quantum is the language of gods, I suspect. Or part of its alphabet.

I kind of see "The Creator" as a HUGE, ENORMOUS nuclear plant - churning out energy and creative particles endlessly for us to do with what we will. I don't believe this "creator" knows or interacts with me individually - and I don't think it has to. In a peculiar way, it's aware of me through the billions of particles that form me, each containing its knowledge, wisdom, power, Source.

But it's not my butler (more's the pity)! so calling on it, pleading, beggin, supplicating and praying is the same as asking Sellafield to turn on your cooker and roast the chicken for dinner.

The power is given inherently. Use it, or don't. It's learning to use it and the time it takes that is my stumbling block.
There is no such thing as Thin Air: Thin Air is full of the particles of creation.

Did we imagine/create the Banana so that we may eat it? Or did the banana imagine/create us, so that it may be eaten? :O

Maybe a bit of both, maybe neither, maybe I'm talking right out of my arse :emb: :D It happens :P

One day, we will ALL have the ability to talk out of our arses :D or any other bodily part - if we choose to use speech at all. :D

I really believe that up ahead in the future, once we've learned enough and it's become as "normal" to us as today's mobile phone or internet (imagine the "miracles" they would have been 100 years ago) we will literally bring instantly into our lives that which we want when we want it.

And then we'll know what the Source has been trying to tell us all along - in the scale of things, God/gods/goddesses are small fry indeed.

:)
