Satanism is part of the Abrahamic cult mythology mate. So there's actually four Abrahamic religions; judaism; christianity; islam; satanism.

You could call them the 'fatal four', or even the 'four horsemen'. :D

Perhaps Satan = Abrahammurabi :chuckle:

Anyway...

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Church_of_Satan
The Church of Satan is an organization dedicated to the acceptance of the carnal self.

The Church of Satan does not worship or support a belief in the Devil or other supernatural entities. "My real feeling is that anybody who believes in supernatural entities on some level is insane. Whether they believe in The Devil or God, they are abdicating reason," said Peter Gilmore.[5] Gilmore defines the word Satan: "Satan is a model or a mode of behavior. Satan in Hebrew means 'adversary' or 'opposer'; one who questions."

Satanists within the Church of Satan adhere to these as guidelines on how to live. However, it is important to remember that Satanists generally do not view the Satanic sins, statements, and rules of the earth as things that one must go out of their way to do. The Satanist ideally sees these things as truisms and how they naturally live their lives, as opposed to a Christian or Jew, who would strive to follow the words of Christ or the mitzvot, respectively.

The Nine Satanic Statements
The Nine Satanic Statements outline what "Satan" represents in the Church of Satan:

1. Satan represents indulgence instead of abstinence.
2. Satan represents vital existence instead of spiritual pipe dreams.
3. Satan represents undefiled wisdom instead of hypocritical self-deceit.
4. Satan represents kindness to those who deserve it instead of love wasted on ingrates.
5. Satan represents vengeance instead of turning the other cheek.
6. Satan represents responsibility to the responsible instead of concern for psychic vampires.
7. Satan represents man as just another animal, sometimes better, more often worse than those that walk on all-fours, who, because of his "divine spiritual and intellectual development", has become the most vicious animal of all.
8. Satan represents all of the so-called sins, as they all lead to physical, mental, or emotional gratification.
9. Satan has been the best friend the Church has ever had, as He has kept it in business all these years.

The Nine Satanic Sins
1. Stupidity
2. Pretentiousness
3. Solipsism
4. Self-deceit
5. Herd Conformity
6. Lack of Perspective
7. Forgetfulness of Past Orthodoxies
8. Counterproductive Pride
9. Lack of Aesthetics

The Eleven Satanic Rules of the Earth
Do not give opinions or advice unless you are asked.
Do not tell your troubles to others unless you are sure they want to hear them.
When in another's lair, show them respect or else do not go there.
If a guest in your lair annoys you, treat them cruelly and without mercy.
Do not make sexual advances unless you are given the mating signal.
Do not take that which does not belong to you unless it is a burden to the other person and they cry out to be relieved.
Acknowledge the power of magic if you have employed it successfully to obtain your desires. If you deny the power of magic after having called upon it with success, you will lose all you have obtained.
Do not complain about anything to which you need not subject yourself.
Do not harm little children.
Do not kill non-human animals unless you are attacked or for your food.
When walking in open territory, bother no one. If someone bothers you, ask them to stop. If they don’t stop, destroy them.

I understand and respect how you might see it like that but it isn't like that for me. To me, "faith" is accepting that there are some things we'll never be able to understand at this point in time, and learning to trust and relinquish some of the control we like to maintain. It's a form of submission - but in a good way - knowing that we can trust God to deal with the stuff we can't! :)

Ok, but what is your faith in? A specific creator, that watches over us and answers prays, like to get rid of a zit on soccer moms face yet lets children get raped? The xtians, say you go to hell if you dont find jesus, as in a 5 yr old Mongolian girl that dies in an avalanche doesnt go to heaven, because she hasnt heard of Jesus. Faith YOUR god will not send you into hell for saying his name in the wrong tone, ala louis ck? The faith us humans put in fairy tales is the problem. The religions of the world worked A LOT better when nobody knew much of what was going on, outside their village. I think people in general will always belong to some form of cult, because the majority need to be led, and then that fear of death without afterlife.

To be fair I don't respect anyones faith in something that is used the way it is, with so much hypocritical things, especially as a woman. I do, on the other hand respect your right to believe in ANYTHING you want as long as it doesnt harm others.

I would possibly be able to discuss spirituality to some extent, as its such a broad topic, but religion...no thanks, ill leave that to the followers. In the words of the great George Carlin, "It's all Bullshit."

Honestly if religious people just STFU, didnt push their stupid shit down my throat and practiced their beliefs in their own homes or places of worship, I couldnt care less. When we go to war over it and kill each other in the streets because of it, I speak up.

I wont even get started on the hypocrites that preach the bible... thats all about helping the poor, as they drive by the homeless daily in 20k, 40k, 100k cars. Talk about the tip of an iceberg so deep, your head would explode.

Hi, badfish! i agree with you that there are stunning examples of hypocrisy throughout the various churches (which are flawed, man-made institutions). I also wouldn't dream of placing my faith in a God who would damn a child to "hell" for not having heard of Jesus, which would be as illogical as it is cruel. My faith is in a loving, transcendent Creator. I guess you could say I tended towards Christian Universalism.

I wouldn't dream of shoving my beliefs down anyone's throat - in fact, some of my experiences over on the DIF make me hesitate to mention it at all. I try to respect other people's POV!

And from what I've read of Mandy's faith that seems to be her position on it too.
I don't think I've ever seen Mandy say a good word about organized religion badfish and I totally respect her faith.

@ dubs - It's OK - you haven't spoken out of turn! You're right - I'm not a huge fan of organised religion, no, but I have no problem with individual churches and the ordinary peeps who go to them. Sometimes it's nice to worship with others - and like I say, I'm no great authority on the subject! :)

Each to his own. I think non-believers can be a bit forceful in their views, and maybe they confusedly think the average person in the street who is religious is somehow guilty of the atrocities conducted over the centuries by the authorities in the name of religion.

@ dawn - thanks, dawn - no, it's not easy being a Christian or indeed any other faith these days! Still, we weren't promised an easy time! :D

@ gilly - thanks, gilly! Yes, it really wierd, that - over on the DIF myself and a few other Christians got blamed for everything from the Crusades to the Inquistion! There seem to be lots of people out there who think that all Christians are Roman Catholic, too! :O

As you say, though, each to his/her own - we each have our own path to forge. :)

Mandy

G'day Quietgirl.

Before I recently moved, I spent 12 months helping out at a local market with some people that ran a banana stall (they sold gorgeous avocados as well). There had been floods up in Qld and banana prices had gone through the roof (up to $14 a kilo in the shops), so heaps of people were coming down to the markets because the bananas were half the price. One Sunday morning we sold out in one and a half hours (around 800 kilograms worth of bananas). I tell you this because the people that I was helping out are seventh day adventists.

So I have no issue with someone having a religious belief. Far from it. I accept everyone at face value.

However (you knew that was coming huh :D ), I really see absolutely no reason to have 'faith' in ANY god as there has (to my knowledge - and I have looked into this) NEVER been any evidence that ANY god actually exists. After having read the bible from cover to cover (OT & NT), IF 'God' was 'real', I wouldn't want to have anything to do with him. I could list off multiple reasons why, well, actual a multitude of reasons why, though two stand out as totally horrific to me.

One is drowning pretty much EVERYONE (except for 'Noah' and his wife, and their sons and their sons wives - 8 people) on the planet, which includes babies, children, pregnant women, the disabled, mentally handicapped, etc, etc. The second is punishing individuals for ALL ETERNITY in hell. Personally, I'd imagine that it would be 'hell' to be in 'heaven' knowing that loved ones were being eternally punished in 'hell'.

Of course, there are a LOT of other issues with 'God', though those two are stand outs.

I'm left wondering, with those two examples in mind, why anyone would think that 'God' is a loving entity. Basically, I see it like this ...

1. Suspend rational thought and logic so that you can believe in 'God'.
2. DO NOT read the bible for yourself and come to your own conclusions. Instead, continue to suspend rational thought and logic, and ONLY believe what priests / preachers / clergy (someone else) tell you about 'God'.
3. DO NOT question what you are told about 'God' ... EVER.
4. In the face of rational and logical reasons of why 'God' does not exist, continue to suspend rational thought and logic.

... and only by doing such can I see someone believing 'God' is a loving entity. If you could explain to me how it is possible without the above four points I'll most definitely take it into consideration.

Note: I'm not asking you to prove the existence of 'God'. No one has been able to do such in over 2,000 years now, so I doubt very much that it will ever be done. In fact, on the Debating Christianity & Religion forum at link that I previously posted, no one has proven the existence of 'God', even those having gone through seminary college.

Actually, I'm going to give a reason as to why I think the christian religion is a detrimental doctrine. The idea that EVERYONE is born in 'sin' and that EVERYONE is unworthy until they prove themselves to 'God' / 'Jesus'. This is purely a judgment against EVERYONE, without exception, which includes new born babies. Personally, I've never seen a new born baby that is unworthy, and while I admit that I haven't seen EVERY new born baby, I doubt that the worthiness would change from new born baby to new born baby.

The fact that this mentality is what christians are taught to think of EVERYONE shows what a christian will think of me, whether they know anything about me or not. Personally, I do not accept such guilt and shame, both of which are detrimental thought patterns to live in, as well as being baseless judgments about EVERYONE.

Anyway, this is getting to be a long post, so I'll stop there and finish by stating that I love Who You Are and think that you are worthy of being loved, no matter what religious views you have 'faith' in. :rose:

How do IAAIA.

Personally, my thoughts on Faith in the external creator God of Christianity are along very similar lines :)

However (you knew that was coming didn't ya :D), You addressed your post directly to Mandy there and also asked her to provide answers about God being a loving entity.
Tbh I think this is poor form. Mandy is not asking you to have faith or question your lack of it, in fact she's not asking you anything. But yet you're asking her to question her faith and provide you with answers.......

If you had just made a post saying, "this is what I think of faith", that'd be one thing but in posting direct to Mandy in that way you've moved into a different area. One I have to say I'm not comfortable with.

Peace mate :)

This guy is brilliant ! Funny and informative and he knows his stuff.

There is plenty of evidence to suggest that there wasn't a historical Jesus, this maybe true OR the real Jesus wasn't even in the ME.

The mind and belief is a powerful thing, given enough energy a group of people can create 'things'.

A native American Medicine Man said that when the Pilgrims came to America there was no concept of good and evil however it was created and now accepted as being so.

G'day Boots.

Thanks for posting that doco mate, it was interesting.

When I read revelations, I was struck by a particular passage ...

Revelation 22:16 (KJV) "I Jesus have sent mine angel to testify unto you these things in the churches. I am the root and the offspring of David, and the bright and morning star."

Revelation 22:16 (NIV) "I, Jesus, have sent my angel to give you this testimony for the churches. I am the Root and the Offspring of David, and the bright Morning Star."

2 Peter 1:19 (New International Version) "19And we have the word of the prophets made more certain, and you will do well to pay attention to it, as to a light shining in a dark place, until the day dawns and the morning star rises in your hearts."

... and later found the one from 2 Peter1:19. It was a stand out to me because one of the names of Lucifer is Morning Star.

Lucifer is a Latin word meaning "light-bearer" (from lux, lucis, "light", and ferre, "to bear, bring"), a Roman astrological term for the "Morning Star", the planet Venus.

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lucifer

... and then there are other correlations with ...

The Vatican's Crest is the 'snake-/dragon', as displayed in the Vatican Museum.

The word 'vatican' comes from Latin and is a contraction of two words in the following way:

'Vatis' = 'prophetic' or 'diviner'
'Can' = 'serpent/snake'

These two words combined make:

'the prophetic- or made divine serpent'
The Vatican is a place, so you may say, that 'Vatican' means 'the place of the prophetic and worshiped serpent'.

&
Gregoryxiii Dragon Medal 1582
The above papal medal of Pope Gregory XIII, designed by L Parm, is dated 1582, marking the year of the Gregorian calendar reform. On the reverse of the medal is a winged dragon / serpent encircling a ram's head. As previously mentioned, the dragon is the biblical symbol of Satan (Rev 12:9). The serpent that is chasing or devouring its tail is called Ouroboros, Uroboros, or Oureboros. The ram's head is also a satanic symbol, and is frequently associated with the Egyptian deities, such as the god Amon (Amoun, Ammun, Ammon), the king of all gods, who was also regarded as the sun god, and Khnum, who created mankind on his potter's wheel from the mud of the Nile.

&
Serpent
The Phoenician serpent god, alias Basilisk. The serpent, as well as the image of the sun, is always a phallic symbol in ancient religion. Basilisk is where the Roman Catholic Church got the name-- St. Peter's Basilica. Basilica is the old Greek name for the temple of the phallic god. How appropriate this is in view of the perpetual obsessions of the priests of "Mother Church." It also is well complimented by the obelisk in St. Peter's square which is a world wide phallic symbol complete with the phallic ball on top.

... which correlates with some of the information discussed in the doco you posted.

G'day IAAIA,

Thanks for that info about the Vatican.

When jesus talks about being the morning star in revelation it's a clue that the Bible is really about astrology, Venus ids the morning star, it's a code for those in the know. The Jesuits knew about this and have taught the secrets to a select few.

Religion on it's surface is a moral code of conduct, it's there to teach people how to be good. I find that kind of funny because everyone has a conscious, a moral code built in. Religion has become the parent to many these days.

Thanks, dubs - I don't mind people asking me stuff, as long as they don't mind if I can't answer! :D

@ IAAIA - I'm afraid I can't answer your questions - this profound philosphical stuff has been debated by the world's finest minds for millennia and little ol' me certainly can't come up with anything definitive! In fact, I would say that anyone who claims to have pat answers is talking out of their hat! I can't justify why I have faith and love God - the whole point of "faith" is that it doesn't require evidence, only trust - and I'm not asking anyone here to justify why they don't! It is what it is - like I say, we all have our own paths to forge! Pax, my friend! :)
