Who’s that cheeky kid with Torres? 11-year-old lad crashes the Europa League medal ceremony

'An 11-year-old boy from Liverpool has earned unlikely global fame after sneaking out of the crowd and in among the Chelsea players as they collected their Europa League winners' medals on Wednesday night.
Louis Kearns had been at the match in Amsterdam with his Dad, and on its conclusion decided he would try and sneak down onto the pitch to try and get a photo or an autograph with Fernando Torres ior Rafa Benitez.
The cheeky lad, who is a Liverpool fan, apparently idolises both men - and his chutzpah was rewarded handsomely as he ended up standing right behind Torres as Michel Platini handed the Spanish striker his medal.'

I really like Chris Waddle because he doesn't pull any punches, or blow smoke up anyone's arse:

Second place, I'll start clearing my desk out. I'd just like to point out to the assembled media that it's been a tough season for Cremation of Care, with injury problems, suspensions, players kicking ballboys up the arse, and someone deciding to bite an opposition full-back. We did win the useless 'starting XI' league, so it's not like I didn't win a trophy.

Congratulations to Hugo, I think I owe you a trophy. If you PM me your details I’ll happily send it forthwith.

Did people prefer the Daily Telegraph league, or the other one? I think we might be a bit thin on the ground next season, as I’m not sure if I can be arsed to recruit anyone from the DIF, but I will set up a new league anyway. It's quality not quantity that counts.

I hate people who encourage other people to join in with things, but...it'd be nice if you joined next year.

That's what I end up doing, never fathomed why though. I'll be keeping up with form etc anyway, doubtlessly putting in 20X the time needed for FF on FM, yet somehow I can never maintain interest in them.

Yes, the boys done good. It was a game of two halves and at the end of the day it only takes a second to score a goal.

If the truth be told I would have gladly accept 2nd place if it meant the real Slough Town could win their league. :(

I'd like to take this opportunity to quash the media reports linking me with the Citeh job and confirm that I will be back at the helm next season to try and achieve back to back titles.

:)

RIP Brian Greenoff. :( Fantastic player.

Manchester United striker Robin van Persie, 29, sent CNN host and Arsenal fan Piers Morgan a signed picture of himself with the Premier League trophy.

How many goals would Denis Law have scored had Beckham been his supply man. Van Nistelroy was fed by Beckham, poor Denis only had Bobby Charlton and George Best helping him.

Van Nistelrooy got very impatient with his lack of service when Beckham left. Ronaldo was being too greedy he thought & the pair had a fall out.... which led to Van going to Madrid, with Fergie citing it as a 'marriage made in hell' :D

I've been wondering about Fergie naming his successor David Moyes.... with Moyes being 50, that pretty much guarantees that Moyes will never be as successful as Fergie because of his age. he could theoretically win more cups, but I think that's unlikely.
I've come around to the idea of Moyes now & I'm looking forward to some new signings & next season. I very much doubt he'll take a kick & run approach, it won't go down well at OT if he does.
Latest rumours on transfers are Strootman and/or Thiago.

So come on David Moyes
Girls grab the boys
etc

P. Nev is looking like being a coach at OT. I suspect there's a long term strategy of 'jobs for the boys' as in those kids that would never win anything, in order to maintain some continuity in the United tradition. Very intrigued to see who gets signed as it needs to be a world class star rather than any more squad players/ up and coming youngsters.

There's actually been a bit of a clear out of the staff that supported Fergie. Rene Meulensteen, Mike Phelan & Albert the kit man have all left.
It looked like P. Neville was trying to get his foot in the door for the Everton job, but it's highly likely Martinez will take it now.
If Bale should wish to leave Tottenham I expect to see United go for him..... but Madrid can easily outbid if he preferred his chances abroad.

I bet Meulensteen is gutted. You can never get him to leave United on Football Manager.

There’s always something I’ve wondered about elite footballers and football clubs. Let’s say you’re Ryan Giggs and it’s half-time and Mike Phelan gives you a bit of a bollocking for not tracking back or something. Bit different if it’s Fergie, I suppose, but I always wonder if he’d ever turned round and said:

“Hold on a second, mate. I’m a far better player than you could ever have dreamed of being. You were shit. You were a shit midfield player for United, and in fact you were so shit in midfield that you ended up playing full-back, and you were shit there too. I was voted the best player in the history of the Premier League. So you can fuck off.”

Roy Keane famously did it with Mick McCarthy, I just wonder how often it happens.

I doubt very much that scenario ever cropped up with Mike "Magic feet" Phelan!

A lot of united fans weren't happy with Phelan being Taggart's no. 2 - citing him as 'tactically inept'.
I'd be inclined to agree on the last couple of seasons performances - United have a better team than how well they were playing a lot of the time.
He was also a shit footballer...!
