I'm gonna give you a generic wikipedia post for starters but then I'm gonna post the community related stuff FCUM do just to illustrate that football may be bread and roses, that assumes bread and roses have some kind of market value.
F.C. United of Manchester is an English semi-professional football club based in Bury, Greater Manchester that plays in the Northern Premier League Premier Division. It was formed in 2005 by Manchester United supporters opposed to American businessman Malcolm Glazer's controversial takeover of the club. The supporters own the club and vote on how the club is run.

The club entered the North West Counties Football League Division Two in 2005, winning the league in their inaugural season. In their second season, they were crowned champions of North West Counties Football League Division One and were promoted to the Northern Premier League. The 2007–08 season saw them finish second in the Northern Premier League Division One North and gain promotion through the end of season play-offs. Since then they have played in the Northern Premier League Premier Division, reaching the play-off final in 2010–11, 2011–12 and 2012–13. The club also reached the Second Round Proper of the FA Cup in the 2010–11 season. F.C. United has played at Gigg Lane since its formation in a ground-share with Bury. However, the club has applied for planning permission to build its own ground in north Manchester in time for the 2014–15 season. The team is managed by former professional footballer Karl Marginson.

They're rapidly closing in on my team. We were about eight divisions above them, but now it's two.

Aren't they getting their own ground soon?
I was happy when they were playing at Alty's ground since it brought extra money in.

Funnily enough that's almost what we are doing. Work is due to start any moment on the new stadium but half the problem was finding a use for it outside of match day and how to offer something to the local community.

I believe builders are being used for the building process, it's an old fashioned club in some ways.

Celebration of fan-owned football as United take on Wimbledon

FC United make our fourth trip to The Fans’ Stadium, Kingsmeadow to take on AFC Wimbledon for the fifth time and the match promises to be another celebration of supporter-owned football.

Saturday’s hosts were formed in 2002 and their advice was integral to the formation of our club three years later. As such, the two clubs have always enjoyed a good relationship and, despite the gulf in league standings, have been keen to lock horns on the pitch.

Four previous encounters over the last eight years have been closely fought with Wimbledon winning the three that have been staged at Kingsmeadow and United fighting back to sneak a 2-1 victory at Gigg Lane in July 2006 thanks to goals from captain Dave Brown and fans’ favourite Steve Torpey.

It’s been four years since the two clubs last met, so the encounter at the weekend promises to be extra special. Since then, whilst FC United have had three years of Evo-Stik play-off final heartbreak, the Wombles have made it into the Football League for the 2011-12 season and narrowly avoided relegation on the last day of last season.

Both clubs have also gone on impressive FA Cup runs, which have helped put supporter-owned football firmly in the public-eye and media-spotlight. Whilst FC United reached the second round in 2010, the Dons highlighted the reasons behind their existence with a much debated second round tie with Milton Keynes Dons two years later.

Although a friendly, Saturday’s contest will give manager Karl Marginson a good opportunity to see how his players respond to competing against a full-time, professional outfit, whilst supporters of both clubs will once again come together to enjoy the pleasure of owning their own football clubs. Get yourself to that football ground.

PAY WHAT YOU CAN SEASON TICKETS

FC United season tickets for the 2013/14 season are now on sale and supporters can order them on line, by phone or through the post.

Once again this year, our members have voted for a ‘pay what you can afford’ season ticket scheme, under which supporters get to place their own value on the price of a season ticket. The response to this scheme over the past four seasons has been excellent and the campaign has been an undoubted success, empowering supporters to take collective responsibilities for the finances of the club, recognising that some supporters were feeling the financial pinch, whilst others may be able to pay a little more.

Season ticket sales are crucial to the club as they enable us to budget more prudently and with more confidence and the income generated allows FC United to continue its policy of affordable football for all by maintaining the same gate price of £8 Adults, £5 concessions and £2 under 18s which we have done since 2009. This is something of which we are justifiably proud and something which we believe is unique at any level of the game.

Supporters will understand that we cannot afford to give season tickets away and like all clubs we need a degree of security so a minimum price for adults and concessions of £90 is requested. Next season the Northern Premier League is being expanded to 24 teams, which means an additional two home matches so we are therefore asking supporters to take this into account when deciding what to pay and to make a donation on top of the minimum price (see guide prices below). A small increase from each season ticket holder on what they paid last season will have a huge impact on the club’s finances and enable us to maintain and improve our club structure as we go into our new ground.

Also, as an added bonus, we pledge that season ticket holders for the 2012/13 and/or 2013/14 season will be guaranteed a season ticket when we get to our new ground. Whilst the number of season tickets put on sale for the new ground has yet to be determined, the number will be limited by the need to retain a number of pay-on-the-gate admissions and away fans.

Details and guide prices for 2013/14 season tickets

- Season Tickets cover 23 home league games but do not include cup or play-off games.
So, 23 matches at £8 (adult gate price) equates to £184.00.

- Concession for the over 60s/unwaged will be the same as the £90 minimum for all adults, which is equivalent to £3.92 per match. Those supporters in this category are invited to make a further donation, if affordable.
So, 23 matches at £5 (concession gate price) equates to £115.00.

- The minimum price for Under 18s season tickets will remain at £21, equivalent to only £0.92 per match.
So, 23 matches at £2 (under 18s gate price) equates to £46.00.

In order to help us plan and budget effectively for the new season, we also would ask supporters to consider purchasing their season ticket as soon as possible.

Might give that a watch later.

Do you reckon they'll ever make it to the Premiership oioioi?
But now I have come to believe that the whole world is an enigma,
a harmless enigma that is made terrible by our own mad attempt to interpret it as though it had an underlying truth.
