Protect them from what?
You really have to ask yourself how they get so confused in the first place, imo. The whole sexuality thing isn't rocket science, though there do appear to be very many 'opinions' on the matter. An issue isn't 'wrong' until a grown up points it out as such. This is how children interpret the world around them and form their earliest judgements.
It'd be nice if it
wasn't something that required legislation, but it apparently is. It'd also be nice if all those visiting and taking part in the games were able to just be who they are too.
In this regard, I don't think this just another opportunity to turn this event into a political soap box, though there will doubtless be those that use it to those ends. This is about treating humans - all of them - with the dignity and respect that is their birthright, regardless of what part of the planet they were born on.
If we have to go down this road, these are 'human' rights, not 'gay'. In much the same way a heterosexual person might be a little pissed off were they to visit my own, private island, where the law strictly states that you're not allowed to touch your partner in any way that may be construed as 'intimate' or talk about anything involving straight relationships - especially if there are children within 100 yards - or face imprisonment/fines.
Though there would be no children on my island, as I loathe them.
Anyway, I've no interest in the games and no desire to visit the country any time soon, so...whatever. Stoopid hoomans.
