Palace reshuffle as the Queen passes more royal responsibilities to Prince Charles
THE relocating of staff within Buckingham Palace suggest that the first steps are being taken to bring Prince Charles to the throne.

A merging of palace staff has begun, which sees Prince Charles' aide become the media chief for the entire Royal household.

The heir to the throne will also accompany his mother to the beaches of Normandy later this year.

The trip is to mark the 70th anniversary of the D-Day landings, Charles accompanying the Queen on the trip further adds to speculation that it may be the monarch's final engagement overseas.

A French government official, who was involved with organising the D-Day anniversary events, revealed that: "We have been told this will probably be the Queen's last official foreign visit."

A source said that no official decision had yet been made, claiming: "Invitations are still coming in and we are assessing them on their merits."

These recent changes in the palace are being interpreted by many as an effective 'job-share' of the monarchy as the Queen grows old.

Charles will stand in for his mother at some of the day's major engagements, further signs that he is increasingly taking on the role as monarch.

Royal aides are expected to make the announcement this week, revealing that the Prince's media team has been merged with that of the Queen.

Amid reports that a ‘gentle succession’ is already underway, a new YouGov poll for the Sunday Times shows significant support for Prince Charles taking on some – but not all – of his mother’s royal duties

While only 42% support Prince Charles taking over ALL of the Queen's current roles and responsibilities and becoming Prince Regent (36% oppose this), three quarters (75%) of the public think it’s a good idea for Charles to begin taking on more of the Queen’s duties.

Majorities think it would be right for him to stand-in for the Queen when it comes to duties that require travel (like state visits to other countries) or weekly activity (like the audience with the Prime Minister). As for the largely ceremonial duties of the monarch (like the State Opening of Parliament), most would prefer to see the monarch herself.

'Activist heir'?

By speaking out on issues as wide-ranging and contentions as the environment, architecture and planning and alternative medicine, Prince Charles has broken with a habit of modern British monarchs – including his mother, the Queen – who have generally avoided expressing opinions on such issues.

But the public don’t think Charles should keep his thoughts to himself: 54% say it's appropriate for the prince to speak out about issues he feels strongly about – a sentiment held by the majority of all age groups – while only a third (34%) think he should keep quiet.

The organisers of this year’s World Islamic Economic Forum hoped to attract an impressive keynote speaker for their first gathering in a non-Muslim country.

Still, they could hardly have expected the enthusiasm with which the Prince of Wales accepted their invitation. Describing himself as “very touched” to be asked, he began his speech to businessmen at London’s Excel Centre with the Arabic for “peace be with you”: As-salamu alaykum.

“The Prince coming here is a positive event,” Abdel-Wahed El-Wakil, the Egyptian architect, said after the event last month. “[It] is a time when everybody is trying to create schisms.”

The Prince has form in embracing Islam. For the last two decades, he has been patron of the Oxford Centre for Islamic Studies, where he gave a speech in 1993 on “Islam and the West” that was reprinted enthusiastically in newspapers across the Middle East.

“He makes all British citizens feel they are part of the grand historical narrative,” says Farhan Nizami, the centre’s director, who has known the Prince for 20 years. “I don’t think there is another major figure in the western world who has as high a standing as he has in the Muslim world. I would describe him as a friend of Muslims.”

Jonathan Dimbleby's authorised biography of the Prince of Wales informs us that, while he is very broadminded when it comes to accepting the validity of non-Christian religions, "he has long deplored the schisms within the Christian Church and has been scathing about the exclusive forms of evangelism represented by Protestant sects like the Free Presbyterians". (1) In his view, Roman Catholicism, Protestantism, Islam, Hinduism, Zoroastrianism are all equally acceptable and the title "Defender of the Faith" ought, in his own words, to be defined as the "Defender of the Divine in existence, the pattern of the Divine which is, I think, in all of us but which, because we are human beings, can be expressed in so many different ways". (2) Holding this view, which savours so strongly of Eastern mysticism, it is no surprise to find it stated that the Prince "finds himself at ease walking between and within all those religions in addition to being a practising Christian". In embracing these views, so inimical to "the faith once delivered to the saints" and for which we are to contend earnestly, he has, in our view, no right to be called a Christian at all! Accordingly, it ought to be a matter of great concern to all faithful Protestant subjects that the heir to the British throne has made it so very clear that, in reference to the reigning Sovereign's title "Defender of the Faith", "he personally would rather see it as Defender of Faith, not the Faith".

Oh I definitely agree, why stop there, most people who believe in God are deluded and biased towards people who share their delusions, the Quran says ""Those who believe (in the Qur'an), and those who follow the Jewish (scriptures), and the Christians and the Sabians,- any who believe in God and the Last Day, and work righteousness, shall have their reward with their Lord; on them shall be no fear, nor shall they grieve." S. 2:62 .

It's mainly the White working class Allah hates not other religious believers :chuckle:
In my experience Sufi's are merely more liberal than Salafi towards drugs and alchohol, they're still very deluded.
