74 children put into care because they were obese.
Seventy-four children have been put into care in the last five years because they were morbidly obese, figures obtained by the Daily Mirror under the freedom of information act showed.
Some 183 youngsters under 11 in England, Scotland and Wales have been recorded as weighing more than 16 stone in the last three years, figures revealed.
Eight of those weighed more than 20st and the heaviest child was 23st 2lb, the newspaper claimed.
The number of under-16s admitted to hospital for obesity in the last year has risen by 12%, Health and Social Care Information Centre figures revealed.
Obesity admissions across England were lower for every age group except under-16s and those 65 and over.

This is so sad. How could any parent let their child under the age of 11 weigh more than 16 stone? :(

I'd be interested to know the demographics of the parents concerned, income, social status etc. However we do seem to be heading away from teenage pregnancyville towards Fatsville these days, and lets be honest, the internet and computer time has a lot to do with that.
Are we nearly there yet ?

These kids are sadly just another statistic in the overall breakdown of society.

That's the way I see it.

Poorer people have a hard time with buying quality food. It is much cheaper to buy a Greggs pastie or sausage roll than to buy a salad.

It is much cheaper to buy all this WW fat free stuff from Poundland thinking you are doing yourself a favour but they are loaded with the real enemy SUGAR.

You can get a meal in McDonald's or KFC for a few quid. That is not even real food, have you seen what goes into a burger? Well it ain't meat.

I have had a yo yo diet problem since "diet" foods were introduced in the 1960's and 70's and we were told FAT was bad for us. Wrong. It's all about the poison in everything SUGAR in all it's many forms in everything from baked beans to tomato ketchup.

Also when I was a kid in the olden days there were no such thing as SNACKS, you got breakfast, a school dinner and a tea at night. That was it. Kids played out in the streets and parks and I honestly cannot remember one fat kid at school.

This past few years I have gotten into clean eating and it's a real shocker when you see how much is added to every day foodstuffs. In my town we have Macca's and KFC and they are full every day of school kids. I have lived here 2 years and been to Macca's just once for a chicken wrap so I could use the toilet lol. It is not in the mentality of most people of my generation to eat food like this every day.
I did what I thought was best at the time and when I knew better I did better. :)

Some people are crap at being parents.

It's common sense you don't over feed your child so it becomes like jabba the hutt from star wars.

Previous generations would have relied on input from extended family rather than the state ie grandparent, uncle, auntie says "your johns a bit of a fat twat isn't he,what are you feeding him?"

You need to pass tests and, sometimes, have a licence for many activities in life.

However, being a parent - one of the heaviest responsibilities - requires no test/licence. I guess that could change once the NWO is in place! ;)

If you kindly say to someone, out of concern, "look your kid is on the chubby side, that might reflect on his health later in life" they take it the wrong way, you might even get sued or something, because chances are, the parents are fat "plus-size" too, and instead of taking responsibility they turn to blame - you!
.... so fuck them and fuck this politically correct world.
Some people are just not fit to be parents - addicts, and food is an addiction too.
In no way I'm promoting eugenics, but if you can't raise a child and aren't fit to be a parent, don't have them. It's not all about money (though children are expensive), I'm afraid it takes much more to deserve to be called "mum" or "dad".
I wouldn't wanna bring a child in this fucked up world anyway.

Think you have to be careful directly telling parents little Jimmy/Janis is a little chubby as you'll never win - criticizing any part of a parents skills in bringing up their kids you'll never win. They will take the comment personally and if you haven't got kids "you don't know anything" so what you say doesn't count. Unless you have input in the child's life which can change things, saying something to mum and dad won't make any difference.

The article Evie posted is more serious though I would like to see the demographics of how it is broken down - could also be other underlying issues of why the child is overeating. There is also peer pressure to go to these fast food joints, my niece used to be really cool about the fact I wouldn't take her to MaccyD's but as she has got older the stuff I told her has fallen by the way side - in her One Direction phase at the mo - 16th birthday present will be "Fast Food food Nation"...lucky she likes books.

I don't think you can say that all addicts are bad parents - too sweeping. My mate at school was a bit chubby and so was her mum, but she came from a loving family who were really good to me when things were going too well with with my own. I've known alcoholics and drug users who were not necessarily bad parents. Sometimes it's the ones who to all intents and purposes are normal where the shit hits the fan in a bad way.

Totally agree with your last two sentences :)

Wow, 16stone 10 year olds... a 23st 10yr old??! That REALLY takes some doing :(
Despite what some will say about the child snatching state, the parents will have received months, likely years, of supervision and support in weight loss before the children were removed.
Choice between copious amounts of shite food or keeping my child at home in the family?
Know which I'd choose

I don't understand how you've jumped from the posts in this thread to the reaction quoted.
The conversation would then follow as: Do you think abused and or neglected children should be left with their abusers and neglectors?

Me personally, I don't think the 'government' (via social services in their many forms) are the child snatching paedo freemasonic pyschopaths that many who frequent forums such as this view them as. The system is certainly not perfect either, granted.

This isn't really about SS v Useless parents, in my humble opinion. Much more here
