The other night during the Quiz, Marina said she thought they were having an EQ. I went off and couldn't find any reports. So I got in touch with a friend who has access to all sorts of data other than just USGS. He came back with this.....
Seems Moldavia is now a part of Romania, the Republic Of Moldova and the Ukraine. Being as it is near Ukraine perhaps it was the ground rumbling from passing Russian tanks?

There was an earthquake on the 3rd. Here is a link to the shakemap Maybe an aftershock of that one perhaps. Depends where your friend is located really.

In the days after the Crimean referendum, we presented our take on "who is next" in the great annexation scramble and said that the most likely region to enter the USSR 2.0 next is Moldova's Transnistira region, where in a 2006 referendum some 97% of the population had voted to become part of Russia.
Moments ago this appears to have been confirmed after the president of the territory said the following, via Bloomberg:

Meh, political silly games, I don't pay any attention anymore. Bunch of clowns.
We had a sorta *insert color* revolution here in 2009, April 7th, so that will be 5 years today.
It's all games, politicians are corrupt to fuck, so are the simple folk. This is not a matter or nationalism as is about who can offer what, in this case, what EU has to offer and what Russia has to offer. The population is 50/50 divided between the EU and Russia.
If Russians want Transnistria they can have it, no skin off my back, that region is independent, have their own currency, legislature and passports, the thing is EU is not gonna like that, cause it's too close to them, that's just about it, not resources or anything, just some place to keep their ammo.
As for the quake, it was hardly perceivable as it was probably an aftershock from the Carpathians one from the day before.

Of course I'm ok Jane, thanks, whatever goes on here, goes on behind closed doors, as far as I'm aware, we're alright, it's the westerners that make a big deal out of it. :D
As for Crimea, it's always been Russian, weird enough I assumed it was part of Russia until the latest events to my shock. Nikita Hrusciov, ex leader of the USSR, an Ukrainian himself is the one who apparently transferred Crimea to Former Soviet Republic Ukraine.

I've been expecting southern Ukrainian states and Tranistria to declare they want to join the Russian federation. It will cause problems though as this will leave Ukraine unable to access the Black sea.
@Marina - Is Transnistria still not, (Internationally) recognized as an independent state?

Nope, only Russia, and probably never will. The borders are not regulated there, on neither side, it's heaven for drugs/ammo smugglers and washing dirty money.
