So, according to the Daily Mail celebrating her death is wrong. Well by their doublespeak standards that makes it alright in my book!

I think everybody is missing a very important point about peoples views and behaviour in celebrating her death.

At a time when things are hard in the UK, all the street celebrations are going to backfire big style. The 'celebrants' are playing right into the hands of the authorities either on the streets or on twitter or facebook and even on forums. I am dreading her funeral next Wednesday, alcohol fuelled celebrations very often turn into fistycuffs. I do wonder whether there would be such mass vitriol if it was a Labour government in power just now. I somehow don't think so.

Having watched reports on various news channels of the people out celebrating on the streets yesterday, they were youths in their majority who weren't even alive when she was PM.

I see trouble brewing and nothing good coming of all this.

Her death couldn't have come at a worse time, combined with the current government being conservative......as can now be seen with the reactions on the street. I just wish the news stations and newspapers would just shut up now. But they wont of course, we'll be hearing stuff until after the funeral, but by then it will be more and more civil unrest.

I just can't get my head around the fact that people are blaming her for the state our country is in now, forgetting that we had Blair then Brown, who could have what all succesive governments have done, and got rid of the policies she put in place, Blair by his own words chose not to, and now we have the conservatives again! Now do you see what I meant by a 'cigarette paper'? I have only ever voted twice in my adult voting life (both of which I regret). I was a teenager during the Thatcher reign. I just don't vote. It's my way of voicing what I will say next.

As I have said, and this is just my personal view, since the dawn of 'civilization' thousands of years ago, politics and religion are the two systems WE ALL stand guilty of pandering to, to the detrament of the majority and advantage of the very few.

There is good and bad in everything, there will always be a division with people taking sides. Maybe I am too much of a dreamer, but take politics and religion out of that equation and all you would have is PURE humanity. All I can tell you is, once I stepped back from the politics and religion, my life vastly improved. In my own stupid and clumsy way, that is all I was trying to show/explain with my previous posts. Just asking you to try and see the 'bigger picture' please.

We shouldn't celebrate Thatcher's death because subsequent PM's have been cunts too?

And policing peoples behaviour based on how the authorities will react to it is doing the authorities job for them!

I think I know which way your parents may tend to vote Jane. ;)

jane I don't think it would make any difference to the reaction to Thatchers death ifm the tories, labour, or the muppets themselves were in power.

The dislike some people have towards this women are born from being directly effected by her policies, have lived first hand through what she did to this country , in particular Scotland and we just don't like her

As for your comment 'they were youths in their majority who weren't even alive when she was PM.' yes they teach things like politics and history in schools and they also have parents who discuss politics with their children

And so it begins...

Police in riot gear were called out in Bristol and Brixton

Police officers were injured and arrests were made as protesters held street parties in cities around Britain celebrating the death of Margaret Thatcher.

One officer was taken to hospital and five others were injured in clashes in Bristol after a street party turned violent. A man was arrested after revellers refused to leave the street party, and threw cans and bottles at police, according to Avon and Somerset police. A police vehicle was damaged and an officer remains in hospital. His injuries are not thought to be serious.

Police said the group "refused requests to peacefully disperse", leading to the use of shields and batons by officers. A spokeswoman said police received a number of calls from residents about the party.

She said party-goers were "throwing stuff around and starting fires" before police arrived.

What I'm reading implies that Jane is not at all impressed by any political party and has chosen not to vote.
She particularly states that she did not vote during the Thatcher era.

Her criticism of labour is that when they had the opportunity to reverse or alter Thatchers policies, they did nothing and therefore are as complicit in the state of the nation today.

If I'm wrong I'm happy to be corrected.

That is what I read too.

I think that at this point in time, the country is becoming inreasingly polarised. Even before the death of Mrs. Thatcher, and throughout the recent benefit "reforms" I have witnessed increasingly divided opinions.
The nation's reaction to her death allows little room for neutrality or moderation: the media demands we revere her memory and a large part of the public wish to denounce it.

As I said: my conscience will not allow me to celebrate death. But I can understand why so many people wish to express their anger at what this person did. I am also very much aware that the RW plan to exploit the death to drive even bigger wedges through society.

It seems, I hope, to be backfiring.

Ding-Dong! The Witch is Dead’ charts after Thatcher dies
Facebook campaign to get classic Wizard of Oz song to number one in the charts.

Judy Garland’s celebratory ditty ‘Ding-Dong! The Witch is Dead’ from ‘The Wizard of Oz’ is heading for the Top 40 in the Official Singles Chart in the wake of Margaret Thatcher’s death.

After the former prime minister died, a Facebook and Twitter campaign began to get the song to number one in the charts.

It’s already at number 3 in the Amazon MP3 bestsellers list and number 11 in the iTunes Download Chart (both at the time of writing). [...]

Thatcher was always a divisive character.
Even Tories are polarised on whether she is an asset to be celebrated or a toxic icon to be disowned.

Don't let her aura contaminate SZ with her hideous stench.
