A recurring theme was drab greyness, representing the dreary, overcast skies of the "grim" North...Not helped by Heavy chemtrailing..

Genuine q oi, why do you think her death will cause people to become political?

For the 'kids' they are about to have her 'legacy' rammed down their throats and subsequently start asking "that was 30 years ago, what's the difference?" or at the very least "what is it about this particular politician's death that seems to have created a sense of unity amongst our parents/grandparents based on something other than Nike or Adidas?"

Although it's great that she's dead, she had a decent innings and lived a privileged life.
Hopefully she was in pain for the last bit though.

DM, I completely disagree with you that celebrating her death is a rejection of what she stood for. Sorry but that's bs.

There are many real ways to reject what she stood for. You know, being neighbourly, showing solidarity with people, not being a greedy cunt etc etc.

Celebrating her death is just crap imho and as I say pointless.and damaging to the soul.

Basically I'm saying Fuck her. There's work to be done. ;)

I believe in solidarity etc too.

But she's an icon. She stands as the architect of modern Britain (I don't myself think she was a puppet, but that doesn't matter anyway). I'm already sick of hearing windbags in the media carping on about her. I think ignoring her and getting on with it is fine and I don't think it's worth arguing about, but from my POV it's a chance to stick two fingers up to the contrived media demand we mourn our 'great leader' with respect, a chance to point out she was the architect of a load of bullshit that's landed us the mess we are today, a kind of cleansing ritual of shite being flushed and I'm honestly glad the bitch is dead and won't pretend I'm not.

“ Thou art a fool, thou busy, busy bee
Thus for another to toil;
Thy master waits till thy work is done,
Till the latest flowers of the ivy are gone,
And then he will seize the spoil.
He, will murder thee, thou poor little bee.”

“So work the honey-bees,
Creatures that by a rule in nature teach
The art of order to a peopled kingdom.
They have a king, and officers of sorts,
Where some, like magistrates, correct at home.
Others, like, merchants, venture trade abroad.
Others, like soldiers, armèd in their stings,
Make boot upon the summer’s velvet buds;
Which pillage they with merry march bring home
To the tent royal of the emperor:
Who busied in his majesties, surveys.
The singing masons building roofs of gold;
The civil citizen kneading up the honey;
The poor mechanic porters crowding in
Their heavy burdens at his narrow gate;
The sad-eyed justice with his surly hum
Delivering o’er to executors’ pale
The lazy, yawning drone.”

Aye, but the fact that me or thee would never pick up the shitty end of the sceptre gives us the right to mock and scorn those that did with such a vengeance!

I'm hoping that although she won it makes older folk reflect on the battles they fought and feel a bit feisty again. There's a strange deja vu about then and now. I think we're on the cusp of either a new wave of opposition or it will fizzle out before it's got going. People haven't been this pissed off since the 80s, but there's still not the real focus for it. There's something strangely timely about Thatcher popping her clogs just as a huge round of cuts comes in, the very day her chosen golden boy she endorsed got told to fuck off by nearly half a million people.

I'm gonna have to agree to disagree with you guys about celebrating her death.

But I'm in total agreement that her death does represent an opportunity. A reminder for many. A recent history lesson for the young etc.

Judging by the last decade and a half though, I ain't holding my breath...

I'm not celebrating her death, just everything she endorsed and allowed during her terms as PM.

I agree with Knobsy here, there is no reason to celebrate the death of a tory you yourself did not cause.

But she caused me my existential crisis. A repeated need to ask "Why?" during my politically aware moments before adults broke me to stop asking awkward questions such as "Why?"

She epitomises a lot of what is wrong in the world today because she endorsed or allowed legislation that created the world we wake up to daily.
