I'm an FC United of Manchester fan, a club run on a Co-op basis. I suspect you know about us, if not take on the FCUM FM13 challenge.

Anyway, it has a fixed price membership, £12 at last count. This gives you the right to propose owt with 3 backers, owt. Members feel they own a part of it and therefore engage in it and it inevitably attracts people who want to make changes.

It has it's fault's, don't get me wrong, but I'm yet to see a capitalist system of distribution that makes it's "shareholders"(and i use that term to extract the urine out of capitalists with no interest) responsible for distributing that profit/or losss.

I think wub's suggestions are sound. I especially like the idea of introducing a thread where people clearly state that we understand that whilst mickey taking is part of the SZ way, deliberate wummery, vindictiveness, disruption etc is not on and we fully accept being banned if we do it and don't heed requests to stop doing it.

That's great, as it happens I once met someone who played for FC United. I think it's great what they've achieved, and Wimbledon for that matter. I'd like to see every club run that way. The problem is that you can be left to swim against the tide financially, but as long as everyone gets in on the ground floor and realises the importance of retaining the financial model then I think it will always work well.

I'm happy to see the forum run that way. I'd sign up for it. My only question is how would you make people that don't want to contribute financially but are already members sign up to it?
