A lot has been made of the huge operation to catch the guy but I think it stands to reason that a violent guy, with bombs and guns who has apparently killed 4 and injured many more, would face the full resources of federal government. ATF,FBI, BPD, DA office. There were other police units too like the local police etc. So many groups involved in finding this guy because I don`t think the general public would accept it any other outcome.
There was a huge street party once the guy was caught and the crowd were cheering those cop cars as they left the scene. A few people were pissed off about the intrusion but seriously those people probably didn`t lose any loved ones at the marathon blasts.
Yes I take your point.
But I nevertheless cannot help but not be too fond of the

OMG it dawn of the police state they're going to take away the guns and put the whole of Boston in FEMA camps Alex Jones way, but I do think hang on this was a really, really bad thing but one armed guy is not like Godzilla who is going to destroy the entire city single handed. The urge to catch them was enormous given the nature of the crime, but the one on the run at that point was no greater threat than any other individual with a gun. Unless he could pull bombs out of his ass.
And, as I said, the irony is the police overkill didn't actually achieve anything. The guys revealed themselves in the first place and then some member of the public found the one that got away.
