The way I see it is like a game of space invaders, in the first few levels there are a substantial casualties easily inflicted on the first few waves of aliens descending from the top of the screen. Yes, he says people should refuse to pay their mortgage en masse etc. But if he started trying to organize people into groups and take action on things, all that would be needed is a few agent provocateurs, some media coverage (problem, reaction, solution) and the solution would be to shut Icke down. So he says we have to figure it out ourselves. which brings me to the next point, which is that yes, people read his books and move on. Ickes work is primary school/first grade stuff, and people have enough and move on. I dont see how that is negative. If people read Icke,, then felt motivated to get off their ass and go to a lawful rebellion group then its a mission accomplished. Or even if they thought he was a shill so went to a lawful rebellion group for mor substance - then its still mission accomplished. Either way, icke gets peoples feet in the door of 'questioning everything' (including questioning him) and the fact remains, he introduces the most number of people to investigating the nature of reality.
I can safely say that the two people I would avoid pointing people in the direction of are Alex Jones and David Icke in that order. Neither present a sound and reliable step in the right direction for people seeking positive solutions. Neither of their approaches offers a sensible and rational approach the problems facing us.
David Icke doesn't walk the talk. Anything he does for no fee which is a rare event (afaik) serves as publicity and a vehicle to sell books. Which I don't have an issue with, if he is upfront about what his intentions are. To date the impression he gives me and a substantial number of other people is that he is sucking up the cash.
He is also extremely hypocritical and this is a recent example of his hypocrisy
