Last year a UK couple went public (idiots lol) after winning £160 million on the Euromillions lottery draw.

I'm sure they now own a big house outright with no mortgage etc etc, but does that now make them middle class, or upper class? No it doesn't and never will.

That sums up the British class system...

Depends if they have an income on the money.
It makes them middle class now imho, upper if they play their cards right.

But thats purely from a financial perspective and thats all that matters imho.

I've had drinks with a few billionaires and some of them can come from lowly backgrounds, just got lucky etc.
There's actually a few of that type in Ireland.

A rich chav is still a chav... :larf:

That couple could be the richest people in England, richer than the queen, yet the upper classes/landed gentry would STILL look down their noses at them.

Ya. :D

Thats their view though, one which is becoming obsolete in the face of globalism.
There's russian mafia gangsters now with more money than some well known billionaires....not only that but they are continuing to add to it.
Theres an aussie woman who runs a mining biz who novum no doubt knows :)
She's worth a humongous amount of money now, she's even met the queen, not sure what queenies take on her was though lol.

Well, but that’s not a new phenomenon, in the olden days they used to call them: new money. Dog knows what the ‘old money’ call these chavs, footballers, hip-hopers (etc) nowadays.

A chav with 160 million is still a chav but class wise he/she is part of the upper class. A few years ago 17 million net worth was the mile stone to reach to be called ‘rich’, but every year the bar keeps moving up. Donno what the figure is for 2012.

I personally think that the class system is abhorrent but people need to know where they stand so in turn they can assess their true financial situation and with a bit of luck perhaps come to the conclusion that they‘re being screwed? I read somewhere that some people categorized themselves as middle class because they own a microwave (I kid you not).

Yup. It boils down to: income/money in the bank + assets. That’s it.

I don't think you can change your class........yes if you win £160 million on the lottery you will be wealthier but you don't go from being working class to upper class just because you are rich.

A lot of it has to with attitude and social circles .

The Italian Mafia in the US probs had loads of money but I doubt they moved in circles with the proper upper class

The american Italian mob (and their cousins at the old mother land) work hand in glove with the elite. Same with drug lords, warlords, gang handlers, human traffickers, arms dealers, big cheeses at the sex industry and so on...

Exactly.

Money alone won't buy you a place in the upper classes in Britain.

I don't understand it.

Maybe it's because of being so confused about my own "class" (own my own house/no mortgage, but poor - unable to afford anything but the essentials for staying alive, family all aristrocrats) >_<

I just see two groups: scum and regular people. And both of those categories have nothing to do with any class system.
The material world is merely a tool. And tools can build, but they cannot create.

She is at war with them, as they are trying to carbon tax her ass to peg her down a notch, and perhaps take her stuff. :hahano:

Thats how the upper upper class/elite roll :hahano: , and they are the ones behind the carbon tax.

Same goes for clive palmer, a billionaire who mentioned the Rockefeller foundation (and i think UN) behind CO2 taxes and had a go at Ickes good chum and zionist billionaire Frank Lowy about issues with Franks football league here. :hahano:
On 29 February 2012, Ben Buckley and Frank Lowy announced that his (Palmers) license for the Gold Coast United F.C. was to be revoked for constant breaches of FFA rules and regulations and sought to pay out the remaining contracts of the players for the remaining month of the season.[13] Lowy has stated that he acted in order to protect the integrity of the sport. However Palmer stipulated that he would contest the decisions through legal action and claimed Lowy was a dictator. Despite a ruling ordering the removal of "Freedom of Speech" logos on their shirts Palmer has indicated they will remain. On 2 March 2012, Palmer lost his Supreme Court bid against Gold Coast United's expulsion from the A-League.

Rio Tinto on the other hand seems to be all for the carbon tax...but then again they have different owners. :yeahno:

Billionaire wars :uzi: :rl:
