The bottom line is this. Its been clarified by Frog earlier in the thread that the forum rules people sign up to when joining SZ cover the whole site, including the chatrooms.
Therefore, Eyes Wide Open has broken them.

Eyes Wide Open was in the chatrooms early yesterday evening (until he was removed from there on the basis of his behaviour on thursday night), and he is still posting on the forum.

wasn't in chat but trust the word of those who were and have voiced their opinion on what happened.

certain things just cannot be acceptable here - homophobia, racism are two i feel are non negotionable - i do not spend my offline time with people who would be so disrespectful, narrow minded and rude - i don't want to here - if i had to choose between 70.000 members who were cunts and spending my online time speaking to just 10 respectful people gimme the ten anytime

Wasn't in chat, haven't done that yet... but by what I have read here and who is saying what went down, I trust the word of those I know. That kind of behavior cannot be tolerated. Either tie them to a tree and give each 10 lashings or boot 'em.

It's very difficult for me to comment as I haven't witnessed anything that happened, but I have no time for any form of bigotry and believe it should be stamped on firmly and rapidly. Or else we know very well what happens.

I banned one person over at Infy because of racial hatred.

Anyone being completely disrespectful to forum members were restricted to THE TOILET, a place where the shit goes (a sub-forum where those that would usually be banned are restricted to only being able to post in).

I know this isn't the way that it is done on this forum. The are some rules in place and they were broken. I'm one of the individuals that broke the rules. When I entered the chat room, both Toby-c-boon and Master11 were giving out a lot of shit to the forum members that were present. I wasn't aware of what started it off and I personally don't care. The abuse of those that have befriended me is not something that I will simply ignore. I called Toby-c-boon and Master11 wankers and told them to fuck off (I repeated the fuck off comment for quite a while as the abuse continued to flow). Not too sure, though I think I called them fuckwits as well.

I ended up not responding to both Toby-c-boon and Master11, though I did interact with other forum members and made commentary in reply to them about what was taking place. Still, I won't be voting for banning them. Neither will I be voting to not have them banned.

If they are banned, I completely comprehend the reason why this would happen. They broke the forum rules.

I did as well. They were members of this forum and I verbally abused them. I think that it is only fair that a vote also be made as to my account being banned. I knew what I was doing and that I would be breaking the forum rules of civil interaction between forum members. I accept full responsibility for what I did and the consequences of my self expression.

I won't be apologising to them, not even if it means my account being banned. If I had the opportunity to do it all over again, having witnessed what I did when I entered the chat room, I'd still call them wankers and tell them to fuck off.

Anyway, that's where I stand with the issue.

No-one is getting banned/criticised/anything else for any ' verbal abuse' that took place in chat that night I AM ALL I AM.
Not you or me (yes I too fired out a few choice insults also folks) or any of the other regulars in there....OR toby, EWO or masters for that matter either.

Its not so much the 'verbal abuse' (swearing and petty name calling) thats the issue here imo, rather the racist comments and in particular the homophobic shite that was directed at Abs.

It was kind of understandable that we all got a bit wound up with the crap that was flying around and started up calling other people fuckwits and the like. OK, its not ideal, even in a members only chatroom, but it happens. And its usually harmless enough in that it doesn't really hurt anyone and doesn't cause any long-lasting bad feelings.

Homophobic and racist insults do.

I think the retaliatory choice language was justified. I wasn't there, I don't know what was said, but if they were being racist and homophobic I would have been throwing a few choice words their way also, had I been there in the chatroom.
