I do believe there is something Jane...a higher energy, something along those lines that we can tap into at will. I've felt it.

I'm talking about the concept of a personal guardian angel/s that helps you in times of need. I'm not saying they don't exist...I'm just being...realistic about it.

Maybe all this shit keeps happening because it just does.

Also, I'd much rather know than believe. One can believe in any old load of crap, it doesn't make it true.

I really like the idea. The movie wings of desire is really good and that is where I first saw the idea.

Perhaps they do not exist and it would be impossible to prove.

I do know we have a voice inside us that sometimes we fail to listen to. Who can say what power a guardian angel might have. Of course that inner voice might just be a sixth sense rather than a guardian angel.

I do want to share a lyric by the Flaming Stars
"the world fell apart brick by brick, my guardian angel took the day off sick"

Ive been to a few spiritualist church's and seen a few so called psychic artists who are able to draw your guardian angel. :umm:

Why do most psychic artists only draw native Americans as guardian angels :umm:

Are you sure they're guardian angels, and not spirit guides being drawn?

A lot of spirit guides are reputed to be native Indians, because as a people, they were more spiritually advanced than most. There are also said to be many that appear as religious people (vicars, priests, nuns) and the turban wearing variety of Indians - people who, as a result of much spiritual study and practice, are in a position to assist others in their spiritual development. I wonder if people confuse this concept with that of guardian angels?

If you want to know if you have a guardian angel, Irre, have you thought about meditating on it?

I've never tried meditation Gilly. What exactly is meditation?

I'm not sure if I like the idea of "giving up" kind of thing... "letting go". I think a lot, I'm used to thinking a lot...I think too much...I'm not sure if I'm ready to go to a place of not thinking, if that's what meditation is.

You never stop thinking really. It's just about achieving a state of deep relaxation, so that the constant mental 'chatter' stops, and you can kind of pick up on other things, like messages from your own sub-conscious. It's not about letting go or giving up, but expanding your ability to perceive things.

It's just a thought, anyway. Might be helpful to you - might not.

I should attempt it one day GIlly. I'm not sure if I'm capable of a state of deep relaxation :D I probably am, but it would take lots of practice and concentration.

In my understanding about meditation , I really try to focus on this statement and others in the books and understand the path of thought it tries to project , I have been reading these books, and looking deep into understanding the mind of this implied shaman

"When you look at the devastating pictures of the May 22nd Joplin tornado, you wonder how could anything good come out of it. BUT, the truth is, so many amazing acts and miracles are being told, that we felt compelled to share some of them with you.

My favorite story is of a 2 ½-year-old little girl who with her father was caught in the tornado in their vehicle. Afterward, when she was encouraged to tell of her experience (the point being to keep children from internalizing the moment and becoming fearful and developing long-term anxiety), she told this amazing story: She said she and her dad and the “butterfly people” were in the car and…At this point she was interrupted and told that only she and her daddy were in the car. But she insisted: “No, Daddy” There were butterfly people in the car with us!” Is that not awesome?! This small child would not have known what an angel was or how to describe one, but she knew about butterflies! It was adequate to describe a miracle!

A young boy and his father were also in their vehicle and were being tossed wildly in the wind when suddenly the father looked up to see another car flying toward them. The little boy was the one who saw two very BIG angels holding the other car back. Their car was never hit by the flying car. The boy continued to say it was the BIG angels that held the other car back. Only the child saw the angels, but the father witnessed the miracle!

Another incredible story is told by a deputy sheriff who, immediately following the storm spotted a little 4-year-old boy in an open field east of Joplin. The deputy ran to get him and found there was not a scratch on him! He asked, and the little boy told him his name and where he lived-which was in west Joplin, out by the St John’s hospital that took a big hit. The deputy asked how he got there to the field. The boy replied: “The angels brought me and set me down here.” The distance was more than six miles from where he was picked up!

There is another story of a mom and her young daughter who were in their vehicle when they saw the tornado coming toward them. They got out of the car and jumped in a ditch, the mom covering her little girl. When the tornado passed, they got up from the ditch and the mom asked her daughter “are you okay?” to which the little girl replied “oh yes, weren’t they beautiful?!” The mom asked her what she was talking about and the girl replied “didn’t you see how beautiful their wings were!” The angels were surrounding them in the middle of the tornado and the child saw the beautifully colored angel wings! Mom did not see them but knew that somehow, they had been protected.

I love it when children see angels, the beautifully colored “butterfly winged” ones. But I also believe there are big strong fighting warrior angels that engage in warfare on our behalf."

Lovely stories :)

But I have to mention the 161 people who were killed. Not enough butterfly people to go around? Some people more deserving of life than others?

Certainly interesting though. Thanks for posting Jane :)

^^^^ This?

How would people believing in a higher energy stop a tornado from killing them?

I thought you might have been infering that I was a Guardian reader mikey...as I understand it, it's a term used to denigrate those of us who are perhaps a bit more skeptical about things...skeptical, I don't like that word, I'm not a skeptic, I just need more evidence before I'm ready to believe in...stuff :chuckle:

Misunderstanding, worry not, not that you were :)
