Was that question inspired by my "I've read Mein Kampf" quote?

:D

AndyH, re: post# 79 it's disingenuous for you to claim you know anything about Marxism imo.
What do you base your idea of "The Marxist Solution" as you call it, on, considering we know you have an aversion to the literature on the subject?
I see the marxist solution as being the same as the hadaka jimmy solution.

Oh come on ffs :killinme:
Lenin=Very well read and passionate Materialist Philosopher (even scarier prospect to many Ickians)
Marxists have always maintained that the more developed, the “purer” democracy is, the more naked, acute and merciless the class struggle becomes, and the “purer” the capitalist oppression and bourgeois dictatorship...
terror and bourgeois dictatorship prevail in the most democratic of republics and are openly displayed every time the exploiters think the power of capital is being shaken.…
In these circumstances, proletarian dictatorship is not only an absolutely legitimate means of overthrowing the exploiters and suppressing their resistance, but also absolutely necessary to the entire mass of working people, being their only defence against the bourgeois dictatorship which led to the war and is preparing new wars.
Lenin wrote this in 1919 and he was correct about the prospects for Russia and Europe if the Proletarian revolution failed.

:gleek:

Here's why:

1) Its authoritarian
2) It involves retaining the monetary system

Its as simple as that. What few people want to acknowledge as I said before is that just those 2 things alone are the most important things to be against. All revolutions without exception have replaced number 1 with number 1 and have retained the number 2...and that especially includes the Russian revolution.

I know you like some long winded rants about it to make it sound better but c'est la vie :D

The closest thing to real social change I have seen remains Mondragon. It's still 1000 miles from what I envisage myself, Fresco is much closer, only 10 miles off I'd say.
Mondragon is what I would call a facilitator of change for the better perhaps.
Fresco is what I would call impossible without experiment and initial investment from a system it seeks to destroy, short of people actually doing what PJ suggested in his 3rd zeitgeist video and all meeting up outside the banks and throwing their money on the streets.

Cuba is an interesting country in that they have actually had a far more successful 'culture' of communist values than any other.
They didn't achieve much either, still remain very poor in real terms and still have many of the social issues that plague many other countries today.
Their health service is probably the only real achievement they have had along with tourism.

A lot of the recent contributions have neen from a no currency perspective. As i said in the op, there's not a chance of a consensus on that so as much as i personally agree with no currency, i'd like to see us concentrate on looking at where we MIGHT get agreement.

The same applies to established socioeconomic/political theories. This aint the thread for them. It may be a chance to cherry pick any good bits from them though and work them in.

On how it actually played out :)
The real world! The one that still uses money and still has leaders telling people what to do and what to say to this very day.
You can call it communism or capitalism but it still retains the same basic value sets.
Work, obey.
There is nothing truly 'valuable' that is produced by the people if they cannot express their own individuality and spirituality and find their own valuesets instead of living with those imposed upon them by their overlords via media, religion and artificial culture.
Marxism is just yet another aspect of the same thing.

What makes you think you can solve anything by doing the same thing over and over again? :)

You might think its a different thing because it involves using the left hand to do it instead of the right but its the same old experiment.

Someone linked a vid of how the cubans dealt with the break up of the ussr. It was inspirational. Imo the sort of things they did and do are essential to us sorting shit out.

Is there anything in the two peso thing we could apply here dawn?

I tried to get consensus with anarcho-syndicalism.
Didn't even manage consensus on that :D

I did get a lot of amusing and dumb questions though! :p

If the mighty noggins of the sz cant pool their thoughts and find a workable model for means of exchange, given all that we have to go on here in terms of understanding, ot doesnt say a lot for us.
Imo it says we like to moan about what others do wrong but arent able to pool our resources to do right...even on a theoretical question...
