When the universe explodes on the 21st December it's important that us guys smell nice. :)

Not sure what it smells like but I'm guessing tears and boiled eyeballs with a hint of jasmine.

I found this dis-info on the web. :D

Mayan Ruins Describe Dates Beyond 2012 'Doomsday'
The ancient Maya civilization documented calendar dates beyond 2012.
This shocking news has been revealed inside ancient ruins of the sprawling Maya city of Xultún in Guatemala's Petén region, supporting what archaeologists have known for a long time: The Mayans never predicted doomsday on Dec. 21, 2012.

During a National Geographic Society-funded dig in the rainforest region, archaeologists uncovered a structure adorned with wonderfully preserved paintings and scrawled numbers -- apparently the workspace for the town's scribe some 1,200 years ago. The numbers have been identified as dates in the Maya calendars. As the ancient civilization developed extremely accurate ways to track celestial objects, many of these calendars relate to astronomical cycles.

How can we plan for and fret about our firey demise if people keeping pointing out mere facts like that the calender keeps going for a while yet and we are merely moving into a new age.

There's all kinds of doom on this planet...just depends where you live. Some places are pretty much post apocalyptic-like, bombed into rubble, destroyed infrastructure, famine, disease, all that.

Will there be a huge war to rival WW2? That only happened a relatively short time ago, 50 million people dead. Will there be a natural cataclysm? One of those things wiped the dinosaurs out and caused the ice age.
Will we all become nano-augmented microchipped cyborgs? Slaves with no free will?

So much DOOM! potential :hahano:

I don't think the world will end on the 21st of Dec. In all likelyhood, fuck all will happen :chuckle:
I can see a lot of shit going down in 2013 though, perhaps. A bit of a gut feeling I've just had, I could be very wrong though.

And if it's all true? :coffee:

Say there is a massive war that starts, WW3... or a more natural thing, like severe storms covering the entire planet... or when the galactic alignment happens, there's a massive energy wave that hits... the axis flips... what then? Preparing for the worst case scenario is never a bad thing, of course you're always hoping for the best outcome possible, but being caught with your pants around your ankles is never a good thing.

You never know when your time is going to come, whether it be due to a natural death, an accident, disease, or something happening because it is time for the entire world... being prepared to ensure your own survival, as well as that of those around you, helping anyone that comes to you needing it is not going to kill you. Make the most of the time you're given and laugh until you cry, love until it's painful, cry until you can't see and wallow in the pain just so you know you're still alive... humans are survivors, we adapt, we change with the flow or at least we're meant to but in these times, there are far too many people who wouldn't last 24 hours on their own with no structure, no law, no oversight by the government. IF something happens, which side are you gonna be on? The one that's got their pants around their ankles or the one that prepared for any possible outcome and was ready, even though everyone around them said "you're crazy"?

Screw school systems, learning how to build an atomic bomb or some shit... start learning how to live off the land, be prepared to free climb a 1000 ft cliff for no other reason than it may be you're only way out... plan ahead, have more than one way in and more than one way out of wherever you are and wherever you're going. Have non-perishable food stored, clean water to drink, medical kits that allow you to do even minor surgery if you have to. Stop poking fun at the doom and gloom because if history has taught us anything, if it's happened before it will happen again. Be that a world war, a Holocaust/genocide, an axis flip, an ice age...nothing is for certain and the only thing you have is now.

Rambled a bit there and got a bit off topic, but come on people. It's nice to sit around and joke, but who here actually does not have the "what if" in the back of their heads? Think about it.

Getting out of Liverpool would probably be interesting :hahano:
I'd just nick a car or a motorbike if needs be :D even though I can't drive or ride. Makeshift weaponry...I'd try to help people in trouble too I reckon, there'd more than likely be maurauding gangs though, possibly with firearms...all the rules would go out the window.
Cities on lockdown, military trying to stop people leaving...what fun.

Start planning then Irre. And prepare to do it on foot if you have to, EMP would take out modern vehicles as they have computer chips in them now. If you're anywhere near the water I'd say that would be your best bet for getting out, swim or paddle a boat. Being in the middle of a city is the worst place to be, IMO.

On Bat's comment of a 72 hour bag to survive on... here's something for anyone thinking "wtf is that?"

Bug Out Bag Home

^ one for each person, extra's if you have animals you're taking with you. You'd be surprised what the human body can carry when needed, but the point is getting out as quick as possible, so light and fast.
survivalcache.com/bug-out-bag/

For someone new to being a Survivalist building your first Bug Out Bag can seem like a big task. Everybody you read about has been tweaking theirs for months or even years and has a pile of gear built up. It’s hard to know where to start, but if you cover all of the basics in a survival situation you will still be much better off that 99% of the people.

A Bug Out Bag, (also called a BOB, Get Out of Dodge Bag, GOOD, or 72 Hour Bag) is usually designed to get you out of an emergency situation and allow you to survive self-contained for up to 3 days. A lot of people plan their Bug Out Bag to sustain them for much longer than that, but there is always a limit to what you can carry on your back and a 3 day target is a good place to start.

Here are the 7 basic types of gear you will need for your Bug Out Bag:
Water
Food
Clothing
Shelter (this can be a tarp because chances are you can either find or build shelter with what is around you)
First Aid Kit (I recommend a military surgical field kit like this one Field Surgical Kit as well)
Basic Gear (Rain, fire, cooking, light, survival knife)
Weapons

Depending on where you live, I'd add repelling gear, thermal underwear and a bow to that list. A bow because eventually the bullets will run out and if you don't know how to pack them you're fucked, you can bow hunt if needed for food, and if you plant one of these (pic below) in someone, they're gonna think twice about coming after you.
3BroadheadTipsforCrossBowArrows

They can be cut out of your food, if you didn't hit bone you're good to use it again.
