Calling all fellow hermits. Is it just me, or does anyone else not particularly like going out, being sociable and get easily annoyed by people?

I've come to realise over the last few years that I actually don't like that many people -present company excepted - and I genuinely really like my own company and just pottering about the house.

I used to feel bad about this, but only because society tells you that you're a sad loser if you don't have a hectic social life and loads of friends. Well fuck you society. Actually, I do have a few friends who I'll go and visit, but I'm just very picky these days.

I work online, do my shopping online and only go out unless it's important, excluding walks in the forest. I find that a lot of people piss me off. It's not arrogance, or thinking too much of myself, but it's just that most people are hard work.

Maybe if I knew more people like SZ member is real life it would be different. Until then, I'm loving my hermitude.

I do people when I choose to nowadays and not because it's expected of me. I find though, that this tends to piss people off cuz they just don't get it.

have a dislike for the general population, only way u find me out there *looks over shoulder* is if i get drug out there, am forced to go because its important, or if i'm drinking. i like my own company, my family, animals, etc... my own little world. and i have a few friends who i'm good with.

think i should take what i just said and get back to that way of life, its a lot simpler...

OMG lesleypumpshaft, are you a mind reader? I was going to post a thread on this exact matter over on TZ (got a plug in there, notice that DG - that's how it's done).

I've always been okay about being "alone", but more and more I find myself wanting to be completely away from people, no matter what or where. Even things like doing the school run or walking to the shop, situations where I don't have to deal with or chat to people, I still find myself somehow resenting having to be around them at all.

I'd run away, but..... suburbia needs painting and its grden done until the daughter goes off to uni.

Yes, the daughter - now, if I'd had her at a time when most others were having their children, she could be my grand daughter and I could be writing to her from Morocco (or somewhere) right now. If you get what I mean....

Lesley, all I can say is FUCK YES!!

People make me sick. Not all, but most. Rude, ignorant and just plain ol' shitty! Everytime I go out in public where there are several or crowds of people, I find myself getting all jacked up way beyond irritated and end up having my entire day fucked off because of it. I'd have to say that around 70 - 80% of the people that I have the extreme displeasure of interacting with in public should be driven out to the middle of nowhere, shot in the face and left for dead. And that's me being nice. 'the fuck is wrong with people anymore??

Whats the point of letting people you don't know & will never be part of your life piss you off. I don't let people change me when i'm out, I'm a happy person, and quite chatty but quiet, i stay that way when i'm out. Why should i have a problem with other people existing, i sort of exist too.

I won't be doing my hermatiteness tomorrow night though... off to see the beautiful in every possible way, Jack White, in concert and I can't fucking wait

I had to go into the city the other week, and I hated it. I hate it more every time I go there. It's total, blanket corporate culture everywhere you look, it's completely dehumanising, common courtesy and manners have gone out of the window completely, constant traffic, noise, dirt and pollution, you can't walk five yards without someone trying to sell you something you don't need, at least 75% of people are glued, fucking glued, to mobile phones, even when they're walking down the street. I couldn't wait to get out of the place.
