I'm certainly up for having a go DG. It's not exactly taken off has it so far. Maybe I'll venture out into the badlands of the forum and push it a bit ;) Got any suggestions or info that may be of help?

I just want a simple life with no bills or pressure. A wee place near a shoreline so I can forage and fish, and a log-burner, and a garden for food production.

Probably want internet at first, but no tv, a wee pub would be handy too, oh, and somewhere to park me camper-van.

Dubs, can I come and live with you?

That sounds like Gwithian Towans to me Jhads. Of course there's other places like it but GT is just one of them places. A group of wooden huts right next to the sea and well off the beaten track. I've known a few people that lived there and I've always been green with envy. Our place is about 3 miles inland :( Still, we are afforded some protection from the harsh sea wind by that :)

Here is our local system GFT, TRY, of which we are members, we have a great leader who has worked tirelessly to get the crews working together.

Seen now that's the sort of thing this thread is about ^^^

I see from that website App that your group is working with the local Council and has become part of the Transition network. This brings up a couple of questions in my mind, if you'll indulge my curiosity....

How did the Council initially react to the idea of setting up areas within the town for raising food? Did they get all bureaucratic about it and want x, y and z boxes ticked or were they open and liberal about it?

How did the idea of getting Transition Town status come about? Was that from your group or a result of working with the local council?

The site we run our plot on is on private land, not council, I was partly responsible in helping get our area. The council stopped caring for many of the outer lying flower gardens, tho empty places are where several of the new plots now lay.

The brains behind the system is due to the professionalism of the team leaders from the word go, being TT oriented it is being recorded to see how people adapt, as all trans outfits are.

I don't really mix with the council, and have my own ideas, best way, we did however have to give up our council waiting list status when we took on the plots we run now.

Cheers for answering. It sort of sounds like we're on the same page tbh. Whilst I do see certain benefits in involvement with Local Councils, from my experience the benefits tend to be balanced by some not so beneficial bits.

I get the TT side of it as in a body of evidence so to speak can be built up that as you say, shows how people adapt and how the community can be positively affected. That can certainly be a help in spreading such ideas.
www.transitionnetwork.org/support/what-transition-initiative

My approach is very much one of 'people power' so to speak. Literally doing stuff off our own backs without Council involvement, even at a Parish level. Interestingly though I have been involved in little bits and bobs where Parish Councillors got involved, but not with their Councillor hats on :) In discussion with them, they've tended to agree that doing things through 'official' channels may be more hassle than it's worth. It seems common for PCs to have at least one busybody, pen-pusher who'd only 'get in the way' ;)

Age and experience, culture, resolve are traights or arrows that are hard to deflect or break once they are en-route. Today many farmers are being alienated, thus an opposite reaction evolves and private land is being released for others to make good use of.

Timing and resolve are models one learns to service the more we strive to succeed for survival, in times like these talking can only gain so much, working together often gets the goods, on ones own invariably does not.

Looking through our family history back to 1508, mostly farmers, the story is very much the same story following the current money paradigm, up and down the public purse is pushed around.

The saddest transformation is the destruction of cultres, and as Icke says is, we truly have forgot who we are, many not even knowing their own past families.

The modern path is an electronic clearing.

Thats incredible app.
Why 1508 specifically mentioned there btw? Or is that just as far back as you can get for your own family?

We have recovered family records and letters of exchange back as far as 12 Great Grandfathers, it made things easier because the immediate family tree never moved very far, we only have one member who left blighty back to the date mentioned.

The changes to what were all industrious type followers like farmers, shoe makers, woodsman etc started shortly after the Uk took on Hong Kong, this is when the switch over period for the destruction of the west truly turned towards what we see today. To climb out of this hypnotism through technology, the paradigm needs to start another peoples patent, a making themselves out of the problem we have foolishly and blindly bought into.

And this will only happen when the whole recognises the lowest common denominators, now working for nothing as equals, then and only then will the true spice of life reflect and repair the damage that expecting others working for any individual nothing and giving others something for nothing.

500 years family history tells me I'm right in many ways, and the gateway to any forms of freedom is through putting our own shoulders to our own wheels, on our own terms.

Rrrrrrr Jim lad, part not with thy labour, to those who demand you to make them their living tor nothing, since the 1960's the public purse has risen around 400%, the governments takings 1300.00 %.
Working for yourself will even the figures, but if one continually buys into the China syndrome one will simply tread water, for how long depeds upon your reserves.

Absolutely, a massive part of this whole walking away process is addressing our expenditure. As you say, if we continue to support the model by allowing our needs and wants to be channeled down the road to China, we are walking along shooting ourselves in the foot.

This is where my pet saying, Walking upon Childerick, comes to mind, and every step we take who knows the term reminds everyone of what they are doing, I have to say it, no matter how many times, the individual feels the pavement coming closer to the flesh putting weight behind the actions.

The way out of this situation is to regain the skills that have been farmed out, it works exactly like this, for those who don't understand but might listen.

The outlay of the end product is so low, Materials supplied and labour included, and the profits so high, that the profits made via mqny crooked free trade policy realities, that they can keep the former work force in mothballs on a fraction of those profits from the slavery label. This we know is crazy but its what is happening, it then keeps both sides of the paradigm doing and buying at the minimum and the masters at a maximum.

In the banking/money link I was reminded about copyrite, the category of this model is included in every item we buy, with the true knowledge, even though it may be painful to see, is my aim, to bring the pain into view, so we know why it is hurting us.

When I was a child I remembered touching the oven door, I never did it again, otherwise I may as well try to join up the dots upon the face of a pretty girl with millions of freckles, only kidding.

On reflection when I first mentioned having a learning album for those who might want a dedicated doing something model here in the zone, the maiority opted for a talking window instead, I ask the question, what has one gained that has saved them a form of escape from the rythum that seemingly hurts so.

I'm unsure myself of what gain is being achieved here App which is why I am trying to stimulate this area of the forum.
This isn't about everyone doing as you do or swallowing what I say or Gris or anyone else. We absolutely have to maintain our diversity. But, any sane person must surely look at the situation on Earth today and realise that we are not going to get any solution from on high. That the only way to better things for the individual AND the whole is to address the lives we lead. To take our own steps away from the system of slavery/exploitation and toward liberation.
