Do you not coach basketball?

Without humans desire to control and dominate, you would be out of a job.

No-one actually gives a fuck about a bag of air going through a hoop.
It's all about displaying dominance over the other guys.
The numbers on the boards might as well be kills

Studying their form and planning game plays is all about maximising dominance.

Forgive me feather old chap but this brought up a kind of 'anarchy mental exercise' I sometimes do in my insomnia spare time; what would anarchist football be like? Theoretically there'd be no need for a referee as everyone would seek to uphold the rules/laws they had agreed to be bound by (for 45 mins each way plus extra time and pens :P) but would still have an element of competitiveness rather than one of co-operation; co=operative football would be shite as far as I can imagine! The only way I can make this element of competitiveness fit in my mind/ideology is there would still be some need to assess who is best suited to each role in a co-operative society as it'd be within the societies interest to be as efficiently productive as possible and therefore some form of 'test/competition' would be required to measure who is best suited. Having efficiently taken care of our needs we'd be free to engage in 'anarchy-football' in our leisure time. I'd still want musicians to push each other technically even when there is no financial reward in it for them, just my enjoyment of their talent, same for football. I still want to be able to appreciate the fine things in life, just not have to pay for them :P

Forgive me if that's waffle, just had the first J of the day to myself and it was rather loaded as now am I :psketti:

But 'we' aren't. It's others who are. Try to point out to 'them' what you've just said, and I've a funny feeling it won't put a stop to it either.

That's kind of my point. Once abundance is taken by the few and controlled, it basically tricks people into thinking there is very little abundance and we go onto survival auto pilot, and barbarism and savagery often follows as a result, imo

Do you believe wealth ever has been, or ever will be, shared evenly or fairly? Abundance has always been taken & controlled by the few. So I don't really understand what your point is. Unless you've got a method planned to confiscate from the rulers and distribute wealth better. I hope you have.

Correct.
Cheetahs know when to stop. Therefore you don't see them wobbling about in stretch lycra sports tops looking like the Michelin man on acid.

We don't have that gift at all. We are exceptionally good at pretending we do until something threatens our stash.

Maybe it's just making sure that you live at the level you are used too.

For example, someone born into money would never understand how the poor live, because they never have to do that.

Could many of us live in a poor African village, or even be able to truly understand that way of life? So we do all we can to protect what we know, and to maintain that level.
Forget yesterday. It has already forgotten you.

I'm just trying to understand it all, I don't have all the answers.

True wealth is food, water, shelter, love, empathy, etc. Not things and currency.

I agree, but I had to finish abruptly to help my lad with something.

I was going to add that there's more awry with those personalities, imo, than simple greed. There's a sadistic element to some of them - they're overgrown school ground bullies who take delight in cruelly inflicting suffering on others.

I am all for the meanderings of the mind.
However you managed to dribble around what drives you to want to compete with the other chappies in the first place.

Let me be clear I am much happier if people vent their instincts in less destructive or harmful ways, sports etc but we cannot pretend we do not possess these drivers and that they may be shaped and unleashed for nefarious ends, (and often are).

Disclosure: The logical part of me finds little attraction in sports.

Without a doubt, with an athletic shoulder to leg ratio added bonus.

So yes thoroughbred would be the correct term...

Fuck that, I just wanna drink beer, sing and watch great footballers, even in an anarchist world. My playing days are long gone. I don't deny we have an instinct to better ourselves, in fact it's that that keeps the dream alive for me as I see it as the best state of existing for the species to encourage our growth/evolution/whatever is to play on those drives but for the good of 'the tribe' rather than to lead 'the tribe'.

It would appear that I am a weirdo too :)

I was just trying to be accommodating. Wasn't sure he'd get arse and I refuse to use their other similar sounding term when arse is available.
