Alternatively, we could harness them together in pairs and drive them along frost and snow covered roads during the winter months utilizing their 'glow' to clear the nations highways and byways to enable the productive members of society to get to their place of enslavement employment.

The Starbucks mentality, and the need for people to feel better than the rest of the herd in their choices.

With these type people they have been programmed as one person here said by commercialism, and spoiled as individuals in thinking they somehow will increase their health and longevity.

It all boils down to trying to run away from Mr Death in the back of our primal minds.imo

The ironic thing is, those with a consumerist mentality, those for whom their lives revolve around buying stuff for the sake of it, and to validate their existence kind of thing, are already sort of dead, the living dead, spiritually dead.

Just tell them M&S clothes are made in the same sweatshops as the George range.

Walmart owns Asda, there are some the size of small housing estates.

M&S clothing is a bit like S&M clothing but with pearls and a twin-set.

You get snobbery in every walk of life - it is just peoples way of making them feel better about their life and life choices by criticizing others.
Sometimes, if you stand on the bottom rail of a bridge and lean over to watch the river slipping slowly away beneath you, you will suddenly know everything there is to be known.

I've watched that English TV comedy show about the department store, they are very fussy so clothes are probably a big deal, as to the brands and who wears what properly right?

You should see how some people dress in public where I live :killinme:

I've been thinking about this recently since my fella's family came to stay.

His sister has to mouth the word 'Lidl'. A friend of mine can only mention "Primark", "New Look" and "H&M" in hushed tones.

I'm dying to know what they think will happen if they were to utter these words aloud.

Someone else I know refers to people as "Asda people", "Tesco people" and "Sainsbury's people" etc, with Sainsbury's Waitrose and M&S Food being the acceptable supermarkets.

:chuckle:

What causes people to think like this?
When I come across people like this, I like to point out that a friend of mine used to work in a pea packing factory. And there'd be a massive conveyor belt of peas and the workers had to pack them into sacks. And they had two lots of sacks, one for Netto and one for M & S. And every hour or so their supervisor would come along and tell them to change bags from Netto to M & S or vice-versa.

I'd never been in a Waitrose until quite recently, and I have to admit that it's a very pleasant environment compared to some supermarkets, the one I went in was spotlessly clean, and the presentation of everything in the place was immaculate. I have to admit that even the staff were noticeably friendly. But you're buying exactly the same stuff as any other supermarket. Do Waitrose have their own agriculture system? Do they run their own farms? No, they just have buyers like every other supermarket chain.Mr. Wolf wrote:

I have to admit that Waitrose is from my two experiences of being in there.

Hey, watch it, Feather! Some of us are at that time of life, and your MILF description's bit too bloody accurate for my liking! :D

One of my sisters-in-law will tell strangers in Asda, in an affected accent, that she only buys triple velvet loo roll, even though it's so expensive, it's the best. She's no idea how hilarious this kind of behaviour is, even though I howl with laughter every time she does it! She just thinks I'm having a funny turn. She's trying to copy off the real family snob who she's totally in awe of - th'usband's older sister. She's not even funny, she makes me cringe.

When her husband had a high ranking job with some chemical company, that one refused to go to a fancy staff do she'd been bragging about, when she found out that it wasn't just management attending, but the whole hoi-polloi workforce. (There are so many emotes now, I can't find the puking one when I want it! :hahano: )

Hey round here they don't bother putting their clean jammies on for a trip to the shop - any old stained, sticky rag will do!

WUB, does this mean your all posh and stuff these days? I never had you down as being a "Waitrose person" :chuckle: or do you go there for a bit of MILF hunting? Guffaw.

"Duchy Originals from Waitrose" is the brand that was started by Prince Charles. I bought some Duchy Originals pork and honey sausages and cocolate coated ginger biscuits once. They were very nice, but they didn't taste any better than Tesco Finest stuff. Tbh, the best sausages I've had are from my local butcher. He's absolutely gorgeous too. :emb:

I'm working out some good piss takes for snobbery at the moment. Not snidey, but just funny ones that will get a good rise out of people. :chuckle:

No, I used to do all my shopping in the Co-op and at markets, and still do pretty much, but where I used to live there was a Waitrose nearby and I went in there a few times. I can see why it would appeal to people that like neatness, tidyness and cleanliness because it was beautifully laid out and immaculately clean. They certainly do a very good job of making it look like you're getting something of unusual quality and I have to admit that the shopping experience is more pleasant than in any other supermarket that I've ever been in. It's definitely a good place to MILF hunt, though, as long as you realise that the likelihood of you being judged by the size of your wallet increases greatly once you walk through the front door.

I won't make any jokes about the butcher and his sausage, it's too easy.

I spent a few years working for Lidl around the south east oddly enough. Maybe that's why some people think they are better than me.

I can tell you Lidl does have some very nice friendly decent customers and some wankers of course. I remember serving women who put their shopping in a Harrods bag. That is the name of the game there. Or maybe she was just "keeping up appearances".

Nothing wrong with Lidl. They just stack it high and sell it cheap, no frills.

And I believe they pay their staff a reasonable hourly rate too, unlike tesco.

They sell some quality wines at very reasonable prices.

I mean wines actually bottled on the estate they were produced on, in their country of origin, not wine shipped over to the UK in bulk tankers then bottled over here as so much of it is.

Mate know's a lorry driver who lives in Spain. His job is to drive the fruit and veg from Europe to here. He says that all the stuff delivered to "them" goes into storage. Lidl's stuff goes straight on the shelf. Dunno how true that is, just something I was told.
