What would you do?

Let him have unlimited access to the internet in privacy and be done with it. I did with my son at around that age.

He'll have seen it all already anyway.

Our Alex (aged 10) sometimes hurriedly shuts his browser down when he sees me approaching, but I think it's 'cause he's watching stuff with lots of swearing & fighting in, which he knows I disapprove of.

Even at his age, they set homework which necessitates the use of the internet, unless you've got plenty of time on your hands to visit a library.

I've just told him that if he does it again, he won't get on the lap-top unsupervised - as in, I'll be looking over his shoulder the whole time. That makes him go sheepish for a while.

I see the problem as more than "access" to gratuity but more of a bait and switch.

Ones hormones direct one to seek images that we find pleasurable. That is then exchanged for something, IMHO, fairly horrific. Faux rape scened and violent treatment of partners.

Perhaps, rather than LESS porn, the right porn. O rthaer erotica. Young adults are very impressinable as is anybody finding something new.

It is difficult for all of us to accept the passage of our young ones from chiildhood to adulthhod and we owe it to them not to leave it in the hands of the, well quite frankly, depraved.

Odd that a catholic should be advocating soft porn, but if we can be mature about the reality of our sexuality instead of this schizophrenic prudeness/perversity then we can accept that our young adults will want to see people in lingere and being passionate instead of leaving it to the weidos who think that tatooed men grabbing women by the hair and calling them bitch is anything to do with llove making

regarding mypost about porn and young adults

I tried not to go down the old line of abstinence

I tried to be realistic because I was young too and stole catalogues to look at wome.

I think that while it is perfectly natural, it should be treated with caution

with the internet, what is availiable is IMHO, not what they are seeking

many pleasures give an everr diminishing return and the result is addiction and eventually overdose and perversion

and that is where porn has led

it is almost impossible to find anything remotely in good taste

so, I suggest careful and healthy provision rather than a false dichotomy of purity versus depravity

I suggest caring for people who are encpuntering sexuality with care and understanding and then giving them privacy in the knowledge that they are not being cheated by those who have gone off the rails

the same can be said for other "vives" like alcohol and even weed
