He might be a cocklodger. She might be a control freak who likes the idea of having an impoverished partner, because she wields 'power' in a relationship by being the one holding the purse-strings. There could be any number of issues, like there always can be in any relationship.

I don't much like the assumption suggested that his unworthiness of her, or his motivation is just to use her as a meal-ticket, being a foregone conclusion because he's not wealthy & she, presumably, is - like he has nothing valuable to offer if he doesn't have cash. Maybe I'm just a romantic. :dunno:

In all seriousness, I was playing Devil's advocate. These days I'd be wary of entering into a relationship with anyone who didn't share my values. As a business woman, I would guess that financial independence and security and the efficient management of her financial resources are pretty important to her. A free and easy type man might be at odds with this, but then they might also really hit it off.

I do think that an mbalance in finances between two people can lead to an imbalance of power in a relationship. That isn't good! It all very much depends upon the two people involved, but just as importantly, the dynamics of their relationship. People can use money to control and manipulate people.

That's very true & it's happened to me.... both ways around. Having money corrupted me, so I spunked it all up the wall!
It's a sad world when people who like or fancy each other can't get it on properly because they're always thinking the other is trying to have them over or take advantage.
It's also sad that people are demonised for having as many children as they want simply because they can't afford it & the taxpayer ends up shelling out.
Life is so orientated by and dictated by money that the world and people's minds are now completely fucked! It has so little to do with our origins or more natural state of being.

Because it's a ritual, whereby my dearly beloved :mad: comes to bed at around 3am, flaps the quilt about a lot, then proceeds to snore and wheeze at an incredible volume, while I lie there getting angry for 3 hours till the alarm goes off at 6am. I just couldn't hack it today. Why are you up?
