I have to say that some people on this forum love the sarcastic insults even when they are not funny. The principle is I believe very important. If we can now apparently get insults against us deleted then the mods are going to be busy.

But, I do think if somebodies golden child can have their childish demands pandered to at will, that is problematic. 'The community' did not decide anything. A spoiled child tugged at mummy's apron, and mummy caved in and gave him a Wagon Wheel with no regard to boundary issues.
If certain posters have the ability to have really quite benign posts deleted at will I'm sorry but I regard that as problematic.

The community (for arguments sake, I'm not sure of the exact nature of the forum guidelines being drawn up) agreed that users shouldn't have to tolerate abuse. Whether I personally agree with this guideline or not is neither here nor there, same for if I agree a post is abusive or not, but the only way I can consolidate my community position with my personal position is to not bring my personal beliefs into any facilitating I do (or Dubs will be all over me like a rash, fucking anarchy police ).

I've been a lot more abusive about WUB than what got deleted on this thread. Should it all be deleted? Seriously?

The problem is if mod/facilitators/enablers whatever they're called are going to blindly delete posts every time some favoured, mollycoddled bag of insecurities throws their toys out their pram for some bullshit reason. It's not a matter of hhmmmmm but what is "abuse", it's turning the forum into the Soviet Union at the behest of baby Stalin. On this particular example, we could all be demanding half the forum content deleted. If 50% of the people here were as passive aggressive as WUB it'd be chaos. You can't talk about 'the community' when one poster has their own personal censor/ego enforcer somewhere among the folk with their fingers on the control panel.

I do think that's a problem.

And it's still here. As it should be. Posts should not be deleted until there is a very compelling reason to do so, surely? If somebody is really being 'abused' then surely the mod should step in and ask whoever to cool off?
There is nothing that needs changing as such, the whole point is posts should not be deleted willy nilly just because some particular person asks for it on a whim. There is no 'matter' to be dealt with. Nothing dramatic was happening. There was no big issue that needed a resolution. That is the whole point. The 'matter' is somebody with mod access playing wet nurse to a child when they really should know better.

So my solution is simply that people with mod access should not leap to enact whatever any particular poster demands however stupid what they're demanding is. Which usually doesn't happen. I only made a big deal out of it because it's a bad precedent which if left unchecked promotes a culture of different posters being treated differently. Like if somebody said something rude to ............ and he asked for the rude post to be deleted, exactly how likely do you think it is that would happen?

Besides which, the fact that nobody has fessed up to bottle feeding WUB means this forum is run by the government. Which doesn't matter as it will soon collide with Planet X after being hit by a cyber earthquake. Fuck you all.

Usually they go into hiding after such attacks. They leave oi out on his own.
