I will not ever stop talking about about people I know who have sexually abused

It's happened to me and it's really fucking annoying when everyone wants to brush it under the carpet

I noted your comment and see you automatically assigned the venus fly trap to yourself,, so be it,...

And yes i am a numpty because what i do is find out what is not allowed to be discussed without evidence concerning CSA, and then i then steamroller a thread and do it anyway, then after being given a cooling off period, i go and do it all over again....so yes you would have to be a numpty to do that dawn eh ?

What you imagine can be done by throwing all that stuff out on here is beyond me, you seek to tell us all personal details and unsubstantiated experiences, without considering that you cannot just throw out claims and names without evidence, and it is not a justification for doing so, because of any personal experiences or claims you have,

Yet you want to state others are brushing it under the carpet because you cannot just throw out all what you seek to do, well i personally know that is not true, and i can tell you dawn, there are members on here who probably know as much, if not far more than you on the subject and its effects, they just to do things in a proper manner that does not go against the consensus of the forum,

Personally i feel if you are still carrying such anger, and seek to talk then you need counselling away from a forum, as it has been stated enough such an emotive issue cannot be allowed to descend into false claims based on hearsay or inference without any solid evidence due to libel, and again in my own opinion, please seek out help away from a public forum, as you seem to me to have just picked up where you left off, and outside help seems to be exactly what you need in my opinion.

Forum therapy is not all its cracked up to be.! ;)

Also , there comes a point where things can been seen as self-pity and self-indulgence, dressed up as a desire to help others. That may be unfair but as they say "Life's a bitch and the you die!" :larf:

Are there any examples of forum owners being sued in any way, whether it be defamation, libel or anything for the content posted by its members?

It would seem to me the responsibility lies with the poster.

I am aware of certain forums being made to make available a posters details by the police but never a forum owner being under scrutiny.

If somebody graffiti a libellous statement on a wall, would the owner of the wall be responsible for the libel?

Does not the terms and conditions upon signing up to a forum state the posters responsibilities?

Yes, why the umm?

For example this forum says all potentially harmful libellous content will be removed, which is fine.

I just don't understand the danger to the owner of the forum.

I've no reason to doubt you but i hope you appreciate it is just a fact of modern life that this place could be closed and certain members sued.

Yes I do and of course I don't want that

What infuriates me is there is no where for people who were abused by public figures to turn to

My brother in law (ex husbands brother) has been to police and it looked like something might happen 18 months ago then everything went silent again

The whole show business business is riddled with people who are sexual abusers

It's ok to mention Tam Paton as he is dead

I just get annoyed when everyone thinks no one in the publc eye can do nothing wrong

It's not quite like that graffiti analogy atwood, it's because a persons wall would not likely have the purpose as a platform for people to post their opinions, it's more likely to be part of the construction of a building or it's a boundary.

Therefore it's not being offered up as a 'posting place' per say.

A format such as a newspaper or an internet forum is circulated amongst the population, it's written and read for the purpose of, reporting facts, giving opinions etc....

So for example if this forum were to display opinions, opinions which can easily be removed, even if a poster takes the responsibility of slandering a person by accusations of child abuse, be it true or not, until it has been proven to be true and the person is convicted of the said crime, it is unwise to post, therefore it is unwise for the forum facilitators not to 'unpost'. because leaving the slanderous post, when the possibility of editing it is there, would be as slanderous as them creating the post, it's the same when a newspaper prints a story that is not proven true that slanders a person, no matter the source the person is within their right to claim against the newspaper rather than the 'informant'.

Imagine if a forum created a thread titled ''Post your guesses at paedophile celebs' even though the facilitators had not posted any names. they would be creating a purpose for them to be posted, which has the same effect as not editing posts that were posted by posters who make accusations that are not legal fact, regardless if they are true or not, because there is no way of knowing what's true or not, so the facilitators need to wait until convictions have occurred before agreeing to permit such terms to be used about 'innocent' people as they have not(yet) been proved to be such in the legal system that populations are bound to.
This is where my bottom line would be if it existed.

The question was how many forums/owners have been sued etc for libel ?

Has the DI forum been sued ever ?

is it not in the wording something like " Any views or opinions posted on this forum are solely those of the author and do not necessarily represent those of the forum owner /administration "

I would even go farther than that Blue_Tackler, even if someone is proven guilty and convicted of sex crimes in a court, it's unwise to slam them to death on a forum (ex. named and shamed from DIF), because, that "pedo" is someone's son, someone's brother, someone's uncle. Not to mention the victim(s). It's not fair on the relatives to have it constantly thrown in their faces that they are related to a pedo or a rapist. Just one bad apple ehh... (They don't read the forums in prisons, but those on the outside do, not to mention the newspapers)

If anybody has a problem with the sentence term, take it to the competent authorities, write letters etc, as IWTT does, however some of them need psychiatric/psychological help, NOT a longer prison sentence, as that is counterproductive.. Posting and speculating on an open forum that even children could access easily is not wise, regardless of proven guilty or not, end of. Imagine the kids related to the convict what they go through, especially in schools, where they would get teased and abused for just being related. This is about having some common sense, and maybe show empathy where others lack.

As marina points out freedon of speech comes with responsibility.

All of the freedoms we desire/need/have a natural right to, come with responsibility.

Marina has hit the most important nail squarely on the head imo.

It doesn't matter whether a disclaimer's been posted regarding not sharing the opinions of the poster. If something libelous is posted, the forum owner is liable as well as the poster.

When I was at DIF there was a panic because another published conspiracy researcher (can't remember which one) did threaten to sue over some nasty comments someone had posted about him, and Sean/Icke were crapping themselves. Nothing came of it in the end. But I think that will be why they closed down that whole sub-forum (after I'd gone).

It's been stated clearly throughout this thread that it's more than just the libel issuse that may arise and if you'd read the thread you would know this.

So on that basis I have to ask, do you have a specific reason that keeps bringing you back to poke at this particular subject?

I don't think it's been answered whether or not forum owners have ever been prosecuted due to the words of other members on the forum and/or leaving those words there without moderation/deletion.
