I shall review the news, without connecting any dots, make the required short leaps to news stories that are created/found/swiped/posted/edited, and keep a vigilant eye open for under lying themes.

And will take on the task of consultation with other members both inside/outside of the News Team, where focus can be widened or narrowed when creating judgements about the interconnectivity of News Items.

I think if we are going to have a reporting angle, rather than the bare facts, I suggest that a theme could be to find stories where there is an underdog, at least as a news goal, we need a mission, something like 'To uphold the underdog' as this will create a consensus of approach, thus we'd only need to identify who is the underdog/down trodden souls in the stories.
This is where my bottom line would be if it existed.
