Yeah I too find eating a chore. It's tough when you have a lil kid to feed and obviously it's nice to sit down together and eat so half the time i eat a bowl of cereals or a bowl of peas or just plain bread n butter

Maybe I'm short of a few drool genes but give me a plate of pasta (doesn't even need a sauce) and a bit of fish and I'm a happy bunny.
I'm not even that keen on puds although I don't mind the occasional yoghurt.

And as for the picture of the women covered in chocolate! Do you know how hard it is to get chocolate stains out of bedding? Let alone the carpet or, God forbid, the upholstery!

I'm obviously one of those 'eat to live' people and not a 'live to eat' proponent.

I'm going to eat my packet of crisps now, and they're plain!

I bet you don't even care which end you open.

Heathen.

Nope, I'm happy with either end.

Spotted Dick is a traditional British steamed suet pudding that has dried fruit and things like cinnamon and nutmeg in it, and it's usually served hot with custard. Don't ask me why it's called spotted dick though, I've got no idea, but it's a good warming pudding for the colder months!

Well, that actually sounded good until I looked up what suet is. :barfonu: Just kidding, woman. It sounds tasty, yes it does.

You say you don't know what the fuss is? OMG. I cannot.believe.you.said.that. Pasta doesn't need a sauce?? What good is pasta for if it is not soaking up a scrumptious sauce. Unless that is, you Brits just throw on a can of tomato sauce and call it a day.

"It's just food" you say.

Nope, my favourite, and cheapest pasta dish has no sauce. Heat some olive oil, place sliced garlic in until it starts to turn golden brown, add some dried basil and remove from heat. Throw in the pasta and give it a good stir, serve with salt&pepper and parmasan. Yum!

Nah, I'll take it straight up. It ain't suet if it doesn't have honest to goodness lard in it. As long as the portion is smaller than my head I think I can handle it. Got to draw the line somewhere.

It sounds a little like mincemeat, actually.

Pip, pip. cheerio!! (damn, you Phemo!)

I beg to differ. If you are heating up olive oil, garlic and basil..... you have just made yourself a sauce.

Olive oil doesn't count here, it's standard in everything! :chuckle:

At the very least, you have dressed your pasta.
That sound's good by the way and similar to how I do it.

It's one of the pleasure of life. Sometimes, when the day is done, I will lay down and think about what I will eat tomorrow. :scotty:

How could anyone not like food. :spank:

Unless their taste buds are missing. :lick:
And only one pan and a colander to wash after!

Eh. I don't bother with any of that. I wipe out the residual grease to moisturize my body and put the rest out for the critters. Boom. Then I use the colander to strain out the sheets because the washer is broken. Winning :winning:.

Blimey. Talk about hitting a nerve. :D

Food is just something to do to stop stomach rumblings and the less time spent preparing it the better. I'm fortunate that I only have to cook for myself and as I'm very easy to please cooking doesn't have to be a chore.

Laying down and thinking about what to eat tomorrow? That's just plain wrong.

Moisturizing your body with residual grease? That's just plain kinky. Not to mention slippy.

:)

As it's the 31st.

Halloween food: Cooking with blood
Black pudding is the only food in traditional British cuisine to be made with pure animal blood. Is Halloween a time to embrace other ghoulish blood-based dishes?
Ever tasted ox-blood soup? How about starting the day with blood porridge or a blood pancake? Does chocolate and blood pudding appeal as dessert perhaps?
These sinister-sounding dishes are reminiscent of childhood horror stories.

Have you got a pressure cooker, Jhado?

If not, I'd recommend getting one. They're great for when you're feeling idle - just bung in a small gammon joint, or chops, or brisket, or a chicken for eg, spuds, an onion & other veg, a bit of stock / water & leave it for 40 min's - an hour. Dead easy, & everything comes out delicious, with only 1 pan to wash. Just add gravy granules to the liquid at the end if you don't feel like making gravy from scratch.

(Add your veg later if you like it al dente, but we like it almost pureed anyway).

Doesn't necessarily mean you're familiar with the lazy delights of the pressure cooker, does it!

A pressure cooker is a good idea Gilly, 'cos once I'm on my own I probably won't be so bothered about cooking, I like to cook for others, and I can throw tons of vegggies in there. Would probably last me all week aswell.
